Purpose:

This job holder will carry or/and lead projects related to organic catalytic synthesis both in liquid and gas phase as well as other related R&D activities. He/she will also manage locally or/and coordinate worldwide projects. His/her work will result in new intellectual properties / new products and/ new processes / improve existing processes for Rhodia in this field. He/She is expected to supervise the lab work of junior scientists or interns.

Responsibility:

1. Work in Research and Technology Center at Shanghai for Rhodia Diphenols & Fluoro-Intermediates

2. Responsible for the lab work to develop new products (gas or liquid phase catalytic organic synthesis, preparation/modification/characterization of novel catalyst)

3. Responsible for setup and operation of laboratory scale gas phase catalytic reactor for data acquisition and optimization of operating conditions and catalyst efficiency

4. Master existing plant chemistry/technologies of gas/liquid catalyzed organic reactions operating in Asia Pacific. Propose, validate and implement improvement programs related to these chemistries.

5. Define the best synthetic route and process according to safety, industrial and economical constraints; to assist in the process development at pilot and/or industrial plants

6. Coordination and management of WW Rhodia projects from phase 0 to 5;

7. Contacts with tollers, suppliers, WW research and application labs, HSE & business teams

8. Supervise the lab work of junior scientist or interns

Requriement:

1. PhD organic synthesis with experience in gas phase catalytic reactions

2. About 3 years related working experience.
