Essential Responsibilities
- Research and product development on advanced power electronics systems
- Interact with product management, customers and divisional CTO's to identify and distill requirements into specifications for research topics.
- Cooperate with a highly competitive team, incl. external scientific institutes
- Prepare project proposals, patent applications, and management and customer reviews
- Develop credits and networks internally within Emerson with customers and stakeholders and externally outside Emerson with technical professional communities. Other Responsibility: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance and Expectations: To ensure your 100% compliance with the Safe Production Law of P.R. China and with Emerson procedures all employees must: understand and comply with CTC’s EHS Policy, safety instructions and established job specific safety procedures and rules; correctly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications/Requirements
PhD degree in one of the following areas:
- Functional Materials In Power Electronics such as
- Magnetic materials for use in inductors and transformers
- Semiconductors for power electronics such as IGBTs, MOSFETs and equivalent components
- Capacitor technologies, example ceramics, electrolytic, film
- Material Science of Dielectrics
- Advanced Battery technologies and its chemistries
Ability to solve problems systematically
Good networking and communication skills
Proactive, motivated and open-minded team player with intercultural competence and a clear customer focus
Desired Characteristics
- Strong curiosity and interests to explore and develop in new technology area
- Demonstrated skills in: project leadership and well communication in global environment
- 3 years working experience in power electronics industry
Following experiences will be significant plus:
- Modeling, testing and applications of high power semiconductor and passive components
- Thermal and mechanical behavior of materials in power converters ,
- Thermal simulation software such as Flowtherm, Pro-E, and/or other thermodynamics testing
- Familiarity with UPS and Telecom Power Products

Qualifications/Requirements
- Ph. D with strong research experience in power electronics, power conversion, circuits, mechatronics or materials from an accredited university.
- Solid understanding of power electronic devices, topology, control system and the mathematic and physics behind
- Strong capability in power conversion, analog and digital circuits’
- Experience or good understanding of heat transfer, thermal managements and cooling systems for electronics
- Experience in simulation with Saber, Matlab Simulink, or Pspice equivalent circuit simulators.
- Demonstrated ability to build prototypes, experimentation on systems, and bench testing
Desired Characteristics

- Demonstrated skills in: project leadership and well communication in global environment
- 3 years working experience in power electronics industry
Following experiences will be significant plus:

- Electromagnetic & Electrostatic fields simulation and test
- UPS and Telecom Power electronics design and testing
- Isolated high power DCDC conversion
- Application experience on electrical power system in telecom and datacenters
- Understanding of the electrical grid power quality
