ASIC Customer Design Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
LSI Corporation offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a team environment. You will be working with customers during their ASIC design cycle as they develop state of the art System-on-Chip solutions utilizing LSI's leading edge CMOS cell-based ASIC technologies along with integrated high performance serializer/deserializer functions, embedded microprocessors, and high speed memory interfaces. You will have responsibility for ASIC designs through all of the key development and implementation phases including RTL coding, synthesis, design optimization, timing verification, simulation, test insertion, physical design, vector generation, and post-prototype test support. The position requires a MSEE or equivalent. Experience in the following areas is a plus: logic synthesis, Verilog/VHDL coding and simulation, static timing analysis, physical design, and design for testability.The ASIC Customer Design Engineer is a challenging and cutting-edge position working with LSI internal methodology and foundation IP development teams to support complex ASIC designs for either external tier one customers or internal ASSP programs.
As an integral member of the customer design engineering team, the ASIC Customer Engineer has responsibility for a wide range of tasks, including chip floor planning, place and route, timing analysis, signal integrity, test, and design verification.
Responsible for support and completion of designs from customer provided RTL or Gate level netlist using the latest LSI technologies.
Design completion tasks include
- Presales Support (die size support, memory generation, addressing customer questions and concerns.)- RTL Analysis & Synthesis
- Physical Design Implementation (bonding, floor planning, power structure insertion, place and route, timing closure) using Synopsys Astro or ICC tools
- Test insertion using Mentor, LogicVision, or Virage tools
- Formal Verification (Verplex or Formality)
- Static Timing Analysis (Primetime and Primetime SI)
- Cross talk analysis
- Power verification- DRC & LVS

Overtime, all ASIC customer engineers within the design center are expected to develop the skills to be able to do most of the tasks described above in this role. Candidates who have the desire to become very broad in many aspects overtime in a very challenging position should apply. Candidates with knowledge in the following areas are a plus:
RTL Analysis/Synthesis/STA: An ideal candidate having some background or skills for the front-end of design implementation which includes RTL Analysis, Synthesis Strategies, and STA setup for complex ASIC environments and strategies for power management.

Physical Design Implementation: An ideal candidate having some background in either the Physical Design which includes floor planning, design closure, STA, and DRC & LVS skills.

Strong communications skills are important to this position. This is a position for developing and honing verbal and written communication skills, and for interfacing to many different people and engineering teams within LSI. A successful candidate will have strong problem solving kills, good scripting skills, and hands on experience with physical design and test tools. Read Channel Verification Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
A qualified applicant for this position would be responsible to do storage read channel functional verification. Duties will include functional verification of Storage read channel mixed-signal IP. Candidate will be expected to contribute to design and development of System Verilog based verification environment and will be responsible for verification closure of block/chip/system level functions for mixed signal based IP. Knowledge of design/architecture is necessary. Experience with Verilog, System Verilog and functional coverage methodologies are required. Must be willing to follow a disciplined verification methodology and to work closely with a multi-location, international design team. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.

Mixed-Signal Read Channel SoC Silicon Validation Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
This position is part of the LSI’s world-lead magnetic recording system design validation team, and focus on mixed-signal and high speed read channel/SoC evaluation board design. The tasks include: perform PCB design and layout process, FPGA and firmware programming, manufacture support, evaluation board debugging and testing.

Read Channel Digital IC Design Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
-Working with an Architecture/Algorithm Development Team to finalize system architecture for optimal implementation of digital signal processing algorithms, including architectural definition and tradeoffs, die size estimation.
- Digital logic design, Verilog coding, logic synthesis, both RTL and gate level verification, formal verification and static timing analysis.
- Perform some transistor level high speed digital integrated circuit design various cells and blocks within custom chips for the hard disk drive industry. Examples of cells and blocks include multiplexors, adders, multipliers, dividers, specific functional macro blocks,
- Work very closely with physical design engineers from floorplan through final parasitic extraction to ensure smallest area and highest performance possible.

Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a multi-location, international team to design high performance analog/mixed-signal circuits in leading CMOS technologies. Circuits will include PLLs, LNAs, CTFs, ADCs.
- Work with a RC development team to create mixed signal verification components and simulation environment, able to follow and improve a disciplined verification methodology.- Use high speed electronic characterization equipments to evaluate and debug the functionality of the design once the part is fabricated in silicon.

-To support the execution of test chip development including Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) test programming generation and characterization of new IP used in LSI products.
-To support data collection and characterization for new products, and manage volume of test data for analysis.
