“International Trainee Program” of ZF Friedrichshafen AG
Structure & Contents
• Program Start and Duration
The program begins every year in October. The program lasts 15 months.
• After the Trainee Program
After the Program, you will take a position within the ZF corporation. During your time as a trainee, you also have
the chance to figure out what kind of position would best suit you. These wishes will be taken into consideration.
• Individual Projects
You work during these 15 months on four, self-organized, individual projects at four different locations, one of
which is outside of Germany. The projects last three to four months apiece.
• Team Project
As a group, the trainees receive an assignment that they have to work on together through the Trainee program.
• Workshops
At the beginning of the Trainee program, there is a team-building orientation week. During the individual projects,
there are also weeklong workshops aimed at further developing your skills. Examples of these include project
management, personality development, communication management and intercultural competence.
Profile & Requirements
• Studies
You should have completed your technical or business degree with better than average grades, as well as
demanding internships or work-studies. Because we are a technical company, it is important for you to have an
interest in technology.
• Internationality
Our Trainee program is international. Because of this, we expect that you have international experience through
studies, internships or working experience.
• Foreign Languages
It is required that you be able to communicate well in the English and German languages. Any additional
language skills would be beneficial.
• Personality
The trainees are part of our potential future management of which we have high expectations. Because of this,
you should have a very strong personality. You have the opportunity to show this in a assessment-center
Goals and Benefits
The goal of the Trainee Program is to promote working independence. You must take on the challenge of
working on your own individual project while working together with the other trainees on the group project. For
this, you must be very flexible and be self-reliable with your work.
• The program offers you the opportunity to bring what you learned from your studies into the workplace. At the
same time, you have the opportunity to see the different divisions of the ZF Corporation.
• As an international systems supplier with important customers in different industrial sectors, we give you the
chance to acquire knowledge independent of the borders separating these different industrial sectors.
You will work more efficiently. Additionally your personal network will grow. This network provides a valuable
basis for managing future assignments in our corporation.
Furthermore, we offer the trainees the opportunity, in the form of additional activities, to put forward your
creative ideas. Here our motto is also valid. Develop yourself!
