    Smith Bits & Service, a Schlumberger Company, is a leading supplier of premium products and services to the oil and gas exploration and production industry, the petrochemical industry and other industrial markets.  We are seeking to hire a qualified candidate to fill the position of IDEAS (Integrated Design Engineering Analysis System) Development Engineer in our Beijing location.

     

    Smith has established a research and development group in Beijing, focusing on the full scale dynamic drilling simulation program development. This group is consisting of a group of about 20 young engineers with Ph.D. and M.S. Degrees in solid mechanics/mechanical engineering. They have very good knowledge in dynamic behaviors of engineering structures and are very skillful in programming languages and large scale engineering program development. Working closely with field engineers around the world and R&D groups in Houston headquarters, they have developed the best drilling simulation program, IDEAS, in the world. This R&D group is now expanding and looking for more qualified people to join this challenging but exciting project.

     

    IDEAS (Integrated Design Engineering Analysis System), is a simulation modeling service used to design, test and analyze bit performance in specific applications. The IDEAS design analysis process evaluates the effect of each BHA component and critical variable on the bit performance, allowing Smith Bits high performance drill bits to be optimized and move from design concept to field proven performance significantly quicker than bits developed via traditional scenarios. IDEAS has also proved to be the most advanced and accurate technology for selecting the best bit, and recommended operating parameters, for any specific drilling application.
