Schedule 1: Job Description

Job Title:              Wireless Communications Advanced Technol, Boeing R&T China

Location:              Shanghai, China

Summary of Accountabilities is as follows, but not limited to:

Job Description:

The Wireless Communications Advanced technologist position reports to the Boeing Research & Technology China (BR&TC) Shanghai Site Manager and is responsible for coordinating all wireless communications activities in China for Boeing and leading BR&TC wireless communications integration work in China working closely with US wireless team and Boeing Customer Aviation Services. This position is also responsible for research and development of applied wireless communications concepts as it relates to the activities that Boeing has in China, including but not limited to networked wireless sensor systems/subsystems for commercial aircraft on-board and off-board applications. This position will not only provide in-country wireless expertise for Boeing but, will also be the technical wireless representative for Boeing in research collaborations, interactions with the Boeing Wireless R&D teams in the USA. Specific Responsibilities include;

1.Support all R&D projects with wireless communications technology to develop new and/or innovative technical solutions that result in an improved business position for Boeing in China 2.Assist with the successful transition of capabilities from R&D to a near production ready capability.

3,Represent BR&TC in the communications research community in China and within other technical forums.

4.Develop technical alliances with Boeing US wireless communications community to support BR&TC research programs, identify common programs and ensure maximum value for Boeing research funds

5.Identify collaborative partnerships with external research providers.

6.Provide technical leadership and solutions to emergent issues related to use of advanced wireless communications concepts in the pursuit of business opportunities.

7.Become a catalyst for innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of the business. Representative Additional Tasks:

8.Assist with design and implementation of a Wireless Communications Technologies Integration Lab for Boeing in China

9.Operate the lab, provide integration services and provide oversight of the lab staff 10.Provide wireless communications consultancy to collaborating organizations and interfaces with senior employees and management both inside and outside of the organization for wireless communications issues related to China

Other duties and responsibilities are assigned by management.  

Competencies

Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge of communications research and application in an operational environment. In addition, candidate must be able to demonstrated ability to forge relationships with both internal and external partners and stakeholders. Experience with application of wireless communications concepts in an MRO environment would be considered a plus. Other experiences desirable are demonstrated project management experience, excellent oral and written communication abilities and comfortable presenting to executive leadership and key decision makers both internally and externally.

Circuit Design Tools: Basic knowledge of circuit design tools

Engineering Analysis: Advanced knowledge of engineering analysis, analytical and computer skills in electrical, electronics, avionics, design, circuit, systems, and reliability

Technical Verification/Validation: Advanced knowledge of technical data verification and validation practices through technical review of engineering proposals, reports, data, laboratory simulation, and actual testbed demonstration. Ability to advise management on innovative advanced technical ideas and potential solutions.

Test Ability: Knowledge of test and validation methodologies for wireless systems, in particular, familiar with standard measurements of System Throughput, Bit-Error-Rate, Signal-to-Noise ratio, Electro-Magnetic Interference, automated test pattern generation, Built-In-self-Test and fault modeling and verification.

Wireless systems and Radio Frequency Design: Skills and ability to develop innovative wireless system architecture, design and validation approaches

Education and/or Experience

Candidate must have an advanced degree in communications technologies related fields. Work experience in industry desirable but not required. Candidate must be fluent both in Mandarin and English.
