Job Description: Microsoft is betting on people-centric Unified Communications to transform the way we communicate. Here is an opportunity to come and be part of the "Software-Powered Communications Revolution". Office Lync and Speech Group (OLS) is driving the industry leadership & vision for Speech and Voice, Conferencing, Collaboration, IM & Presence; and it is one of the Microsoft's fastest growing businesses.The OLS-China team in Beijing is part of the global OLS development organization. The team made great contribution to the success of Lync 2010. For example, Lync Server Control Panel developed by the team was named as one of the top 10 things customers love in Lync 2010. Currently, the team is working on the planning of next Lync release. The team includes 3 technology centers: Server Manageability, Lync Media Stack and Text-To-Speech (TTS).Server/service Manageability is extremely important to the Lync success. The Lync Management team are planning and developing the best Office Lync Server & Service management infrastructure and experiences. The new management framework will play a pivotal role in helping the Office Lync organization's goal of delivering the best communication server for the worldwide customers.The Lync Media Stack team brings the state of the art Lync media support into variety of platforms and devices. The effort will empower people to communicate on whatever platform or device which is convenient to use such as PC, phone or TV and using whatever modality which is preferred such as audio, video and data collaboration. It is a critical foundation to realize the OLS vision of media anywhere. Speech has been transforming how users interact with computers for the last 10 years. Everything, from being able to check movie times on the cell phone, to communicating with your vehicle using the power of your voice, has shown that Speech is maturing from the stuffs of science fiction, to becoming attractive experiences in reality. As a medium sized team with a big heart and grander visions, the TTS (Text-to-Speech) team believes that Speech and the Natural User Interface will one day be as commonplace as the display, keyboard and mouse. We are working passionately toward helping Microsoft to become the company that brings that vision of the future to the world. The Lync Management team in OLS-China is looking for a motivated and passionate software development engineer. You'll work with a group of very smart, motivated and passionate people to deliver high quality manageability solution for millions of Lync customers in the world. Primary responsibilities include designing and developing the easy and powerful to use server/service manageability user experience for both on premise Lync server Admins and online Lync service tenant Admins. In the next release we will mainly focus on service manageability. How to make the manageability of millions of users and thousands of servers in data center more powerful and more efficient to ensure the service can run reliably and users can use it conveniently without any glitch is a top priority. It is a very hard problem to solve given the scale of the service. How well we can solve that problem is critical to the future success of the Lync service which is an important building block of Office 365 service. You must have a solid track record of shipping high quality product on time. You must be strong at design and development. You must be willing to take challenges to get thing done even in the condition of ambiguity and uncertainty. You must be very experienced at collaboration and communication. You need to have a lot of innovative thinking as we need to solve a lot of problems which have not been solved before. You need to be passionate for engineering excellence and be able to drive it. 
You should also meet the following qualifications: 
1. Passionate about technology, software quality, highly motivated, self-disciplined, and detail oriented 
2. 3+ years of software development experiences, especially in C# or C++. 
3. Strong problem solving skills 
4. Strong analytical and communication skills 
5. Proven track record of cross group collaboration
