Job Description:  Join and work with the team on projects.  Propose synthetic routes, efficiently execute syntheses, and characterize reaction products.

Requirements:  The candidate must have a M.S. in synthetic organic chemistry or a B.S. in organic chemistry. The preferred candidates must have solid organic chemistry knowledge in understanding reaction mechanisms and be able to demonstrate strong experiment skills at execution synthesis, product purification, and structural determination. The candidates should be familiar with and use analytic instruments including HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, IR, etc. to characterize compounds.

Title:  Role of Medicinal Chemistry in Drug Discovery 

Abstract:  Drug discovery is a multiple-discipline research that requires scientists from various functional groups to work together.  Medicinal chemistry, the central part of drug discovery process, plays an essential role in discovery and development of medicines.  With the more and more discovery efforts being shifted to China (from CRO service to drug R&D), there is an increasing need of Chinese scientists, particularly Chinese medicinal chemists, who are able to conduct/lead such research activities in our homeland.  This presentation will briefly highlight the role of medicinal chemistry in drug discovery, which would allow audience, particularly young chemists, to have the taste about what the medicinal chemistry really means, thus, inspiring them to devote themselves into this challenging life science field.
