KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

·          Strategic Planning — plays a leading role in the annual strategic planning exercise as well as quarterly updates to the strategic plan; acts as the ‘policeman’ and ‘air traffic controller’ responsible for ensuring discipline to the strategic planning process

·          Environmental scanning — responsible for identifying trends in political, social, technological, regulatory and market environments that affect our business.   Relevant to China, special emphasis needs to be placed on changes/trends in government policy towards agriculture, reserve, etc.   I.e. actions or policy trends by NDRC, MOA, MIIT, State Council, etc.

·          Management briefings — responsible for researching and providing briefing on special projects such as 12th 5 Year Plan

·          Management reporting — responsible for compiling reports to management (country, region, global) as needed.   This probably coincides with the China Strategic Planning Process, annual Co 5 Year Business Plan, and Bottom Up Business Plan processes.

·          Works closely with the CEO and senior management in the development of company strategy and reviewing strategy related issues.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS REQUIRED

Knowledgeable on strategic thought, strategy development and planning.

Familiar with GE Method/Argenti Method, Porter 5 Forces, BCG Model, etc.

·          Minimum 2 years working experience; prefer 2 years of strategic planning experience or 4 years of general work experience.

·      Super PowerPoint skills.

·      Very good grasp of English and Chinese

·          Proactive individual with strong ability to work independently without constant supervision, and in vague circumstances.

·      Strong analytical skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A business education background — MBA preferred, but BBA or other strong undergraduate business background okay.  Alternatively (probably highly unlikely), the candidate has had hands-on role in strategy formulation AND implementation for a MNC.
