Position        :               Teaching Assistant / Trainer

Brief Overview of Role:

• To provide general support to the teacher in the management of individual and groups of children.
• To work with the lead teacher in supporting the children’s learning and development.
• To respect the needs of all cultures, religion and gender. To show an anti-discriminatory and anti-bias approach to all aspects of the role. To work within the Early Years Philosophy and Objectives

Specific responsibilities are as follows:

As part of the teaching team:

• Provide for the children’s social and emotional development
• Act as a role model, show awareness of individual needs and respond to them,
• Encourage children’s interaction and engagement in their learning.
• Take part in observation, assessment and planning of the curriculum.
• Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person.
• Contribute to the overall aims of the school and support the roles of other members of the school team and attend relevant meetings as required.
• Participate in the schools performance management framework and in professional development activities as required.
• Assist with the supervision of children and accompany school trips and other out of school activities with the teacher as required.
• To take responsibility for training Chinese teaching assistants in all areas of the curriculum. To participate in Parenting and Ayi programme.
• To translate material as appropriate.
• Undertake any other similar duties as required.
