This is an exciting, newly created opportunity in the expanding economic, finance, and trade policy section of the British Embassy Beijing.  This reflects the increasing importance of the UK-China economic and financial relationship.

You will report to First Secretary, Financial Policy, and together you will work to mutually improve the UK-China Financial Policy Co-operation, for instance in:

- Developing the offshore Renminbi market in London (a shared objective between both our governments)
- Helping China implement financial service reform by sharing UK's experience (we have project funds available, you will be involved in running a number of projects which assist the Chinese government in this area)
- Reporting on financial policy reforms in China, for which there is huge demand in the UK, within the government, and business.

Many of these activities take place under the strategic framework of the Annual Economic and Financial Dialogue (held between the UK Chancellor (Finance Minister) and Vice Premier Wang Qishan), in which you will also play a key role.
