Title:                             Category Buyer

                     Delphi Powertrain Europe & Global Diesel EMS

Mission:    For assigned direct material categories, manage the supply base to ensure an on-going operational excellence all along the program life – project, production, services pats – in line with the global/PBU strategies and quality & financial objectives.

Key responsibilities:

- With the BLPM support, provide PBU needs to GECTM, to adjust Category Strategies in order to align with PBU business & financial metrics.  

- Participate to attain lowest up-front cost/ideal value stream performance for all new components: early sourcing, development of strategic suppliers, cost modeling, cost/profit planning, benchmarking.

- Understand/negotiate cost impact related to design changes.

- Benchmark categories and manage a buyer business plan to achieve cost reduction, localization, best cost countries objectives,

- Link & leverage current and new businesses, within all PBU/division counterparts & the category team.

- Develop and execute a strategy to ensure an on-going operational excellence from the supply base, that delivers purchased parts in the requested volume, quality, timing, and at the best cost, all along the program life, including service parts.

- Early communicate/negotiate with supplier Delphi’s expectations for quality, logistics, cost management, supplier suggestion program, lean manufacturing development

- Follow up & update the buyer business plan, pipeline, iQRF, GPMS, EMCIP, etc for an on-time performance/sourcing implementation and ensure an on-time data transmission to other functions:

- Execute sourcing process excellence standards, promoting, lean & first time quality culture.

- Visit Delphi manufacturing plants on a regular base.

- Attend adequate trainings to develop & maintain market and techniques expertise; meet people development objectives and personal business plan.

- Perform activities with high integrity, in compliance with Global, Divisional and Site procedures & systems requirements and Delphi fundamental principles as lean, First Time Quality, The Guide, etc.

Qualification required (R) preferred (P)

- Engineering/Mechanical/Business Degree (R)

- Fluent English (R) other language skills (P)

- Analytical / problem solving /organizational / leadership & communication skills (R)
