Graduate Trainee Programme

Objectives of the programme:
● To foster professional engineers in the Power Industry
● To develop high-potential graduates to become future engineering managers
Every year, we recruit fresh and recent graduates who majored in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering to join our two-year Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme. The programme offers structured training in power network, system design, power generation process, operations and maintenance, protection and automation as well as knowledge in business strategy, marketing, project management skills, resources planning and safety, health, environment and quality control.
As a graduate, you will be assigned an experienced mentor and an engineering supervisor, who will guide you throughout the programme. You will also have the opportunity to learn in our world-class Training School and in our major power stations, which are equipped with genuine power network and generation equipment, as well as simulators for practice. You will also be placed in key business units to gain various knowledge, skills and experience.
GTs from the Mainland will receive training and work in Hong Kong. Training programmes for Mainland graduates will be the same as those other GTs recruited in Hong Kong or overseas. Admission to Scheme A Training of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) will be subject to HKIE's approval.
　　Career Path
Upon successful completion of the GT Programme, GTs will join one of our engineering departments and be promoted to Assistant Engineers. Upon satisfactory performance, they will be appointed as Engineer II in 12 months' time.

Are there any requirements on applicants' academic background?
  The CLP Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme welcomes applicants major in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Energy related Engineering disciplines.)
 Can I apply for the GT Programme if I am not a 2013 graduate?
  We welcome all final year engineering students in relevant disciplines and recent graduates with less than 2 years of work experience.
 Can I submit my application through email or mail?
  We request the same set of information from all applicants to ensure fairness and consistency in the screening and selection process. Therefore, all applications must be submitted through the ChinaHR's website.
 What is the application screening process?
  CLP processes all applications in a fair and systematic manner. Through our own screening mechanism based on a comprehensive set of objective criteria such as academic achievement, language ability, etc., CLP's Recruitment Team will shortlist applicants who match our requirements.
 Where will the GTs be posted?
  GTs from the Mainland will receive training and be working in Hong Kong.
 Can I have a say in future job placement?
  Job placement of GT will be subject to business needs and operational needs. While GTs' strengths, interests, and preference will be taken into consideration, the Company will have final decision. We expect our GTs to be keen and fast learners who are willing and able to move around different business units and work locations.
 
Will CLP offer any support to GTs from the Mainland after making job offer?

  
A one-off Relocation Allowance will be offered to GTs from the Mainland. Our HR team will be the key contact point for advice and support. Young engineers in CLP will be invited to serve as buddies for GTs from the Mainland.
