RMB214,000 – RMB256,000 (approximately £21,200 – £25,300) per annum plus benefits, depending on skills and experience*

As part of its ambitious strategy plan to develop world-class research and to contribute to the vibrant local economy, the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China has recently secured substantial funding to establish the International Doctoral Training Centre (IDIC) with a mission to pursue world-class research in digital technology and its applications and to deliver cutting-edge knowledge and skills for the global digital society.
The IDIC’s vision is to become a centre of excellence for research and training in focused areas of digital technology and its applications and to develop solutions to real life problems in the Digital Economy. Working closely with the Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute and Horizon Digital Economy Doctoral Training Centre in the University’s UK Campus (ww***.uk[点击查看]), the IDIC has established a unique 4 year PhD programme for the Digital Economy to train 50 PhDs in the next 5 years to become the future technological experts and business leaders. The first cohort of 8 PhD students selected through a global competition joined the programme in September 2012 and are receiving their first year’s research training at the Horizon Doctoral Training Centre in the UK.
A rare opportunity has now become available for an ambitious researcher to play an important part in this exciting mission. Applications are invited for the post of Research Fellow in Computer Science/Big Data Analytics.
The successful candidate will conduct personal research, disseminate research results in prestigious international journals and conferences, and where appropriate, turn research results into intellectual properties and real-world application systems. There will also be opportunities to supervise junior researchers and PhD students. The person appointed will be expected to assist the Professor of Digital Technology in organizing research and training activities within the IDIC, to seek external research funding and collaboration, and to interact and collaborate with academics and researchers across campuses within the University of Nottingham.
Candidates must have a PhD (or very near to completion) in computer science or closely related science and engineering disciplines. We will most welcome applications from applicants with a background and experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, multimedia content analysis, data mining, artificial intelligence technologies, mathematical modelling and optimization, and computer programming. Candidates must also have very strong problem solving abilities, excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and fluent in written and spoken English.
This full-time post is available for up to 5 years in the first instance with the possibility of becoming a permanent academic position within the Division of Computer Science (depending on performances and subject to mutual agreements).
