Marketing & Communication Internship Job Description The British Chamber of Commerce-Guangdong ("BCCGD") is seeking an Intern to begin work in Guangzhou as soon as possible. With over 200 members in Guangdong, the BCC is one of the largest and most active foreign chambers of commerce operating in Guangdong. The BCC's role is to promote and foster close business ties between Guangdong Province and the UK through (i) Providing a forum where members can meet and share experiences of doing business in Guangdong and China, (ii) Organizing regular social and business events (iii) Working in conjunction with the British Consulate General Guangzhou and other official government bodies in relation to trade missions, high-level visits, seminars and other business functions (iv) Publish a bi-monthly magazine the "Chamber Eye" (v) Developing links with government authorities, other chambers of commerce and businesses in Guangdong and elsewhere. The Role of Events Intern (Guangzhou) The Intern shall be mainly responsible for supporting the BCC staff with administration and marketing responsibilities, reporting to the BCCGD's Executive Manager in Guangzhou. The Intern's duties shall include the following: 1. Prepare Monthly membership renewal 2. Update Membership Data Base 3. Prepare Membership Package - Membership Certificates - Member Cards - Any Britcham materials that we wish to distribute (sponsor packs, event info etc) - Any vouchers we may have that members might appreciate - Any supporting member materials we agreed to send 4. Researching and input Potential Members into PM data base through Directories, Event Attendees and Online Research 5. Fix Meeting with Potential Member for Marketing and Communications Manager Anna and the Executive Manager Tom Simpson. Once the meeting is fixed, update on Basecamp calendar. 6. Help with prepare Sponsorship Package in 2012 - March – Women In Business Forum - Apr – Britcham Golf Tournament 2013 - - June – British Day - July – 4th UK Architecture Forum (Future Cities Forum) - September – Welcome Back Networking Drinks - October – Britcham Golf Tournament 2013 - November – China Debates - December – Christmas Party The Successful Candidate The successful candidate should possess excellent written and spoken English language skills and should ideally possess the following: (a) Have at least 1 years working experience (b) Have a good overall knowledge of business and industry in Southern China (e) Marketing or sales experience (f) Proficiency in Excel, Word, Photoshop and website knowledge (g) Be able to work independently (h) Be self-motivated, sociable and possess the confidence to deal with business people (i) Be enthusiastic and outgoing, with an excellent phone and face to face manner (j) Be well organised and systematic, and be willing to share a workload that does not fall directly under their job description This role will offer the right candidate an excellent opportunity to interact with the international business community in Guangdong in a lively, professional and challenging work environment.
