Job Summary:
Job purpose:
Apply operations research techniques to solve challenging business and supply chain problems. The project portfolio will impact all aspects of Praxair’s business, including on-site, liquid and packaged gases. Project opportunities will include but are not limited to supply chain and logistics optimization, business optimization, risk analysis, revenue management, and business analytics. The candidate will be asked to combine an understanding of a business problem with data based decision making to significantly impact operating profits.
Work scope:
The candidate will be involved in technology development programs from concept initiation through commercialization, and be expected to work closely with the local operations and business organization, as well as the corporate R&D and global operation teams in the US. As a result, he/she will need to develop credible business cases for new technology programs, actively participate in the technical development, and lead multi-disciplinary project execution teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Involved in technology development programs from concept initiation through commercialization, and be expected to work closely with the business organization globally
Solve challenging business and supply chain problems by applying analytics and operations research techniques
Work closely with the local operations and business organization to develop innovative technical solutions that best meet business needs
Lead multi-disciplinary project execution teams
Domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time
Education: PhD degree in Industrial, Chemical, Engineering and Operations Research
Master’s degree in Industrial, Chemical, Engineering and Operations Research And 3 years of experience
Skills & Personal Attributes:0-3 years R&D or engineering experiences in advanced statistics, data mining, and/or optimization;
Priority will be given to candidates with industrial experience in applying optimization and analytics to solve business problems;
Must be able to interface with internal business partners, external vendors and customers from a variety of cultures and business backgrounds;
Self-directed individual with good interpersonal and communication skills;
Able to speak, read, and write in English;
