Purpose/Key Responsibilities: (Mission of job/General area of responsibility)

v  Helps ensure that latest CAD/tooling technology is used to develop or commercialize adidas ait products according to the highest quality and industrial standards.

v  Manage the flow of CAD/tooling information from HQ to factory technical departments including moldshops and injection shops supports in mold, assembly & plastics materials engineering feasibility studies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

¨      Assists the Development/Commercialization Managers in ensuring that the CAD/tooling/materials/assemblies used in development and commercialization is thoroughly reviewed & complies with the stated design and development specifications from headquarters with high quality engineering levels including pro-active & innovation solution proposals.

¨      Assists the Development /Commercialization Manager in ensuring that tooling:

1.      incorporates latest, innovative technological developments

2.      adheres to agreed-on ait-specific development / commercialization timelines

3.      meets with adidas quality standards and cost efficiency objectives

¨      Supports & follows up on PCT & HQ guidelines in the continuous upgrade of technical applications and processes and implements them for ait tooling needs and into aDC-ait CAD/tooling facilities, moldshops, & suppliers. 

¨      Is aware of adidas brand mission and customer focus; has some knowledge of adidas history and understands the technical direction of the innovative product range.

Operations:

¨      Maintains an efficient tracking system on ait CAD/tooling and related processes with factory and moldshops; helps ensure that CAD/tooling development complies with the established and/or agreed-on ait-specific development and commercialization timelines. 

¨      Assists in the evaluation of tech packages, technical drawings, material specs, etc to check that they have been correctly processed and include all necessary information.  Evaluates gauges, molds etc to ensure that they meet specifications and adidas quality standards.

¨      Manages a secure, central filing system for all technical drawings and relevant graded patterns.

¨      Supports the update of CAD/tooling manuals; processes incoming information on latest industrial standards; ensures that these standards are evaluated and, if appropriate, adopted into working processes on ait programs. 

¨      Helps coordinate all PCT related work for aDC-ait center to ensure implementation & adherence of latest PCT guidelines & policies and other established standards for:

1.      mold technology

2.      the grading system

3.      quality check and correct tooling execution

4.      process-oriented procedures

5.      CAD/CAM and software application (watertight, FEA, etc.)

¨      Participates in all CAD / mold / materials-engineering-data / QA processes & tear-down meetings and maintains a reporting system for the findings which is communicated to HQ, manufacturers, moldshops & material vendors.

¨      Must be familiar with adidas policies regarding:

1.      tooling standards

2.      tooling costs

3.      materials and components

4.      lab test standards

Requisite Education/Experience:

¨      Diploma or degree in a post-secondary discipline focusing on CAD/tooling and/or product engineering.

¨      Three years working experience in a technical engineering/CAD/mold making capacity with a good knowledge of injection plastics for consumer goods.   Knowledge on shoemaking processes a plus.

¨      Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM processes and applications, handling related software.

¨      Fluent spoken and written English and Chinese.

¨      Computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel & Powerpoint.
