Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, LLP (“Freshfields”) is looking for high calibre Chinese law students to join as Legal Consultants or Interns in our Beijing office.

For law students graduating in 2013 or 2014, please apply for the position of Legal Consultant.

For law students graduating in 2015 or later, please apply for the position of Intern.

Please note that these positions are only open to Chinese nationals.

About the Legal Consultant Position
We offer three-year contracts to bright PRC Legal Consultants. During the period, you will closely work with associates and partners on transactions.
Regular tasks include due diligence, legal research and legal drafting. Working with us, you can expect to attend meetings with associates and partners, deal directly with clients and other professionals, and be involved in managing and executing transactions from start to finish.
We help our Legal Consultants with their career development by offering comprehensive on-the-job training as well as a variety of training programs for development of legal skills, management skills and other professional skills.
We encourage our Legal Consultants to qualify in common law jurisdictions. Each year, we select top performing Legal Consultants and sponsor them for a one-year LLM study in US law schools and a US state bar exam.
We support our Legal Consultants and aid their professional development by offering opportunities of inter-office secondment and client secondment.

About the Intern Position
Freshfields is happy to help students interested in a legal career to obtain valuable and practical experience to build their competencies to be lawyers for the future.
We offer full-time internship opportunities on a 2-6 months period to selected law students. Interning with us, you can expect to be involved in meaningful work under supervision from our legal consultants and associates, as well as be invited to various training programs. You will find that an internship with Freshfields will prove to be truly beneficial for your future legal career and distinguish yourself from others.

About the Selection Process:
Our selection process includes:
1. Application collection, by 15 November 2013
2. Written test, in early December 2013
3. Individual interviews, in late December 2013 and/or early January 2014
4. Offers made, in March 2014
For those who are in another city or country and are not able to attend the written test and interviews, we will offer remote solutions where possible.
If you are in a location where Freshfields has an office, we will schedule you for the written test and interviews via video conference in our office there.
If you are in a location where Freshfields doesn’t have an office, we will schedule you for an online written test during core office hours on the same day the others come to our office for the test. You need to be able to access emails, process word and PDF documents on your device to complete the test. And schedule you for an interview via video conference during core office hours on or during the days on which we schedule for others. You need to arrange to book a vendor who provides good quality video conference facilities for your interview. We don’t suggest computer based video conferencing applications such as Skype.
