Profile for candidates R&D KST/MU3

Kurz is supplying today highly engineered transfer coatings to a wide range of customers in the
packaging, automotive and 3 C industry; most of the coatings and inks which are used in our products
are developed by Kurz according to our customer’s needs.

The chemist in the R&D department of MU3 will be focused on the setup of new foil products mainly
based upon the requests of our customers in the automotive and 3C industry. This includes the color
setup in cooperation with our colormatch team, OEM designers or with the Kurz design departments
in Shanghai or Germany as well as the choice of the appropriate lacquer formulations. The
preparation of the foil samples on our production equipment is supervised by R&D. Finally, the
evaluation of the transfer foil in respect of workability and conformity to the OEM specifications is
also part of the job.

The position is set up to report to the Head of R&D/KST.

Expertise:

University degree (master of science) in organic- or polymer chemistry

Other professions only in combination with a strong background in synthetical work, applicants with
only analytical background are typically not helpful

PhD possible but is no “must have”

Knowledge of instrumental methods of polymer analysis and physical chemistry

Experience in coatings, colorants or printing preferable but not requested

Personal skills:

- Ability to work independently and well organized with a high degree of self-motivation (like
in Master and/or PhD thesis)
- Ability to set up and follow up the assigned projects target orientated.Interest in working
with colors and design; willingness to get expertise in color matching and creating color
effects and designs.
- Readiness to work in an international team with product designers, production engineers,
and sales people
- Ability to communicate in English (or German .) sufficiently in written and spoken
