　　NOTICE OF RECRUITMENT UNDER THE HIGH LEVEL UNIVERSITY DISCIPLINE (SUBJECT) DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OF GUANGDONG UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN STUDIES

　　Guangdong University of Foreign Studies ("GDUFS") is a distinctly cosmopolitan key university administered by Guangdong Province, and an important base in South China for nurturing global-minded professionals and for research on foreign languages and literature, international trade, and international strategic studies. In 2015, the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government started work on implementation of high level university development, and GDUFS was selected for development of key subjects/disciplines, with specific approval being given to development of two projects, namely "Development of an innovative system relating to foreign languages and literature oriented to international language services" ("the Language Services Project") and " Development of an innovative economics-management interdisciplinary system aimed at servicing the significant strategic requirements of the 21st century Maritime Silk Road" ("the New Maritime Silk Road Project").

　　In the case of the Language Services Project, we are relying on our disciplines of foreign languages and literature, Chinese language and literature, news and broadcasting studies, management science and engineering to build a platform for international language services research, an online language teaching platform, a digital platform for international language services, and a platform for nurturing language service enterprises.

　　In the case of the New Maritime Silk Road Project, we are relying on a cluster of disciplines covering applied economics, industrial and commercial management, politics, law, and others, promoting innovative development of an interdisciplinary system covering economics, management and law, striving to build a new type of academic think-tank that will be both well-known outside of China and of the first rank within China, a platform for attracting and nurturing professionals of the highest caliber for theoretical and practical research on the Maritime Silk Road, and to be a leader in its field in China.

　　In order to better promote these projects, we are currently seeking to recruit excellent high level professionals both in China and abroad.

　　I. Relevant disciplines

　　1. Foreign languages and literature, Chinese language and literature, news and broadcasting studies, management science, and engineering;

　　2. Economics, industrial and commercial management, politics and law.

　　II. Categories of professionals

　　Yunshan Leading Scholars, Yunshan Distinguished Scholars, Yunshan Young Scholars (Class A), Yunshan Young Scholars (Class B) and Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholars.

　　III. Recruitment requirements and procedures

　　Recruitment will be carried out in accordance with the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Yunshan Special Recruitment Positions Management Regulations, and the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base Management Rules (provisional) (Guang Wai Xiao No. 29 of 2014).

　　IV. Remuneration and Benefits

　　Successful applicants will be granted salary and other benefits in accordance with their personal requirements, the category of the position and the duties stipulated in the employment contract.

　　1. Yunshan Leading Scholars

　　Annual salary: RMB600,000 - RMB3,000,000

　　Research activation fee: RMB300,000 - RMB1,000,000

　　Housing benefits: Persons who have not yet bought housing in Guangzhou will be entitled to resettlement allowance of RMB1,000,000 to RMB3,000,000; at the same time they will be entitled to transitional housing on campus in accordance with the regulations, and if they do not use the transitional housing, they may be granted a rent subsidy of RMB5,000 per month.

　　Other benefits: The scholar may be allocated one full-time or part-time research assistant. According to need, 1-3 Yunshan Young Scholars (Class B) may be hired. According to actual circumstances, we may plan to build a research platform consisting of a specialized research base, laboratories, databases and so forth.

　　2. Yunshan Distinguished Scholars

　　Annual salary: RMB400,000 - RMB2,000,000

　　Research activation fee: RMB200,000 - RMB600,000

　　Housing benefits: Persons who have not yet bought housing in Guangzhou will be entitled to resettlement allowance of RMB500,000 to RMB1.500,000; at the same time they will be entitled to transitional housing on campus in accordance with the regulations, and if they do not use the transitional housing, they may be granted a rent subsidy of RMB4,000 per month.

　　Other benefits: The scholar may be allocated one full-time or part-time research assistant. According to actual circumstances, we can plan to build a research platform consisting of a specialized research base, laboratories, databases and so forth.

　　3. Yunshan Young Scholars (Class A)

　　Annual salary: RMB300,000 - RMB1,000,000

　　Research activation fee: RMB100,000 - RMB300,000

　　Housing benefits: Persons who have not yet bought housing in Guangzhou will be entitled to resettlement allowance of RMB300,000 to RMB1,000,000; at the same time they will be entitled to transitional housing on campus in accordance with the regulations, and if they do not use the transitional housing, they may be granted a rent subsidy of RMB3,000 per month.

　　Other benefits: According to actual circumstances, we can plan to build a research platform consisting of a specialized research base, laboratories, databases and so forth.

　　4. Yunshan Young Scholars (Class B)

　　Annual salary: RMB250,000 - RMB500,000

　　Housing benefits: Persons who have not yet bought housing in Guangzhou will be entitled to transitional housing on campus, and if they do not use the transitional housing, they may be granted a rent subsidy of RMB3,000 per month.

　　5. Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholars

　　Annual salary: RMB250,000 - RMB500,000

　　Housing benefits: Persons who have not yet bought housing in Guangzhou will be entitled to transitional housing on campus, and if they do not use the transitional housing, they may be granted a rent subsidy of RMB2,000 per month. Excellent postdoctoral students may be offered work by the university.

　　1. 高层次人才由学校人事处组织专家对应聘者进行科研教学能力、学术水平和综合素质等的全面考察、遴选。

　　1. The high-level scholars will be comprehensively examined and selected by experts organized by the University's HR Department, on the basis of their scientific research and teaching ability, academic level and overall quality, etc.

　　2. In the case of ordinary teaching and research positions, applicants will be comprehensively examined and selected by the University's HR Department, on the basis of their scientific research and teaching ability, academic level and overall quality, etc. following screening and assessment of qualifications by said Department on the basis of the information supplied by the applicants, together with the assessment and opinions of the relevant school, interviews of the applicants, simulated teaching, etc.

　　3. Political investigation and physical examination. The University's HR Department will examine the ideological and political performance of prospective employees, together with their moral character, compliance with discipline and law, the truth of the information they have provided, and so forth, and will reexamine the applicants' qualifications. Before the employment agreement is signed, the applicant should undergo the physical examination in accordance with the regulations.

　　4. Announcement and hiring. According to the results of assessment and medical examination, the University's HR Department will forward the application documents to the President's Office for consideration. If approved following discussion at the President's office meeting, and if there is no objection following public announcement, the application will be submitted to the higher authorities for filing and subsequent formalities.

　　iii. In the case of high-level scholars or urgently required scholars, the hiring method may be determined by specific discussion between the two sides.

　　1. "Pearl River Scholars": according to the provisions of the relevant written rules of Guangdong Province.

　　2. Among the "Yunshan Scholars" series, the salaries of "Yunshan Leading Scholars" will be not less than RMB600,000 per year, that of "Yunshan Distinguished Scholars" not less than RMB400, 000 per year, that of Yunshan Young Scholars" not less than RMB300,000 yuan per year, and that of "Yunshan Chair Professors" not less than RMB30,000 yuan per month, with specific salary to be negotiable.

　　3. For other teachers, the University will grant the same treatment as for personnel of Guangdong provincial public institutions.
