[上海]Research Assistant Position in Signal Transduction and Immunity Group

Signal Transduction and Immunity Group at the Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology (PSC) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated research assistant.

　 　PSC is a recently established institution of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with joint funding from the Chinese central government, and the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences. PSC aims to become a world’s leading center for plant-related research.

　　Position Description

　 　The candidate will be responsible for generating transgenic rice to address specific biological questions on plant immunity. In addition to this work, the candidate will support experimental management, including maintenance of laboratory materials, and new students training. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role.Excellent English and Chinese speaking, reading and writing skills as well as laboratory experience with basic molecular biology techniques are required. Previous experiences in a managerial position would be welcome.

　　Research Focus

　　 Earth's population is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050. Plant agriculture must change fundamentally to support this number of people by mid-century. Rice is the most important food crop,therefore, improvement of disease resistance in rice is a key research goal. Our ultimate goal is to designnew plant immune systems to control pathogens.
