Core Facility of Genomics Group at the Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology (PSC) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated research assistant.
PSC is a recently established institution of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with joint funding from the Chinese central government, and the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences. PSC aims to become a world’s leading center for plant-related research.
Position Description
The candidate will be responsible for epigenetic regulatory mechanisms in Arabidopsis. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role. Excellent English and Chinese speaking, reading and writing skills as well as laboratory experience with basic molecular biology techniques, for example construction, DNA and RNA extraction, are required. Previous experiences in molecular biology would be welcome.
Research Focus
Earth's population is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050. Plant agriculture must change fundamentally to support this number of people by mid-century. Rice is the most important food crop, therefore, improvement of disease resistance in rice is a key research goal. Our ultimate goal is to design new plant immune systems to control pathogens. We are using Arabidopsis as a model plant to understand epigenetic regulatory mechanisms such as DNA methylation and histone modifications. Our ultimate goal is to design new crop or vegetables.
