Shantou University, located in Shantou, Guangdong Province, is an only comprehensive university in the eastern region of the Guangdong Province with a population of over 20 million people. Shantou University currently has over 1,540 staff and over 10,056 students working towards Bachelor, Masters and PhD degrees in the Colleges and Schools of Arts and Design, Business, Engineering, Journalisms and Communications, Law, Liberal Arts, Medicine, and Science.

Shantou University, founded in 1981, is a comprehensive university jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Li Ka-Shing Foundation. It is the only public university in the world that receives long-term funding from the Li Ka-Shing Foundation.

In September of 2013, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and Shantou University signed a Memorandum of Understanding for jointly establishing the Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), a research university in Shantou. On April 9, 2015, the Ministry of Education approved the preparation for the establishment of GTIIT.

Since 2001, the University has conducted a profound internationalization-oriented reform, and overseas talents have been recruited to serve leadership positions of Provost, Vice President and Deans. Through a series of institutional reform initiatives in academics and governance, quality of education, research and scholarship has been significantly enhanced. Shantou University offers platforms for the exploration of higher educational reform in China. In 2015, Shantou University was named as one of the high-level universities in Guangdong Province, and in the same year, the institution was placed in the 601-800 category in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The Business School currently has about 70 staff over 1,300 undergraduate and postgraduate and MBA students.  The School is committed to providing an internationally-recognized management education by cultivating a new generation of business elites with Aspiration, Knowledge, Persistence, and Achievements. The Business School offers most sought after programs with 100% first choice undergraduate intake and 100% employment upon graduation. It is the first in Asia to receive EPAS accreditation for its undergraduate programs in all areas of the school programs from European Foundation for Management Development.
