Job Description
Position – Research Specialist (medical/underwriting)
Summary: The Research Specialist will work closely with the Director, R&D and  other office staff members providing timely and responsive medical, marketing, underwriting and claim services to our clients. Additional responsibilities include data collection and marketing research.
Reports to:    Director, R&D – China
Location:        Beijing, Shanghai (optional)
Requirements:
? 2-5 years solid experience of medical research, or marketing in research institution, healthcare or life insurance or other medical related industry;
? Medical background or professional qualifications is preferred;
? PhD or Master in medicine or related majors is preferred;
? Experience in product development and enhancement an advantage;
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
? Self-motivated, independent and team player;
? Proficiency in both written & spoken English and Chinese.
Responsibilities:
Research:
? Collect and review medical literature in specific field such as critical illness; Writes articles and contributes information for company medical
publication(s).Translate or review translation of RGA publication.
? Work with the Director of R&D, actuaries conducting product design and pricing.
? Data mining of medical information to support pricing.
? Collect information aiming at conducting and maintaining comprehensive analysis on product design, underwriting rules and market practice among insurers in China and oversea.
Underwriting:
? Provide underwriting services to client companies such as finding out answers of enquiries, solutions for special projects, etc.
? Promote facultative underwriting services to existing clients and new prospects.
? Participates in setting strategy, policy and objectives with decision asking based on thorough understanding of medical and underwriting risk.
Marketing:
? Work with the Director of R&D, UW&Claims and other office staff members conducting market research when needed.
? Source out potential new clients and product/service needs and trends in the market.
? Provides marketing support to sell RGA's research image and provide
value added services to our clients, such as educational seminars and research.
