1. Key Objectives
Due to the increasing number of autonomous driving vehicles and platforms it is necessary to have powerful and experienced team of systemengineers. In this position you are responsible for the design and development of the next generation of autonomous vehicle platform for China.
2. Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all BMW HAD related hardware prototypes. Ensure that the hardware platform is running stable, ensure firmware updates of sensors and other hardware, update sensors and hardware if necessary, support vehicle modifications together with workshop colleagues.
  • Design and develop next generation of BMW autonomous vehicles for China
  • Responsible for all Baidu HAD related hardware prototypes. Contact for Baidu problems related to vehicle hardware.
  • Close cooperation with research teams in Shanghai and Munich involving several departments.
  • Using safety oriented development and process.
  • Driving and testing prototype cars.
  • Transfer of research results to Munich and BMW China.

3. Education / Degree:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical/electronic Engineering with experience in vehicle busses and communication.

4. Knowledge / Skills

  • Very good overview about vehicles including engines, mechanics, electrics ...
  • Strong knowledge and skills regarding communication like Ethernet, CAN Bus, Flexray Bus, LIN Bus...
  • Very good knowledge about eletric systems including electric system design, wiring plan design and reading
  • Out of the box thinking.
  • Matlab / Simulink and ROS
  • Good knowledge about sensor technologies for perception: ultrasound, lidar, radar, stereo vision
  • English reading / writing / communication
  • Strong implementation skills. Capability of implementing projects with limited resources and creative solutions. Experience with workshops building or maintaining research vehicles.
  • Driver license

5. Experience

  • Industry or university experience working in robotics or driver assistance systems.
