What is Zeal Education?

Zeal is a start-up rooted in Silicon Valley that aims to create a novel, highly interactive platform that combines individualized learning with social networking.

Zeal offers consulting and mentorship services for Chinese students applying for overseas educational institutions in English speaking countries. Our mission is to provide opportunities-and they are rare in China- for Chinese kids to meet and directly learn from the most outstanding young leaders in the world.

Zeal isn't satisfied with existing mechanized service models: all of our services are premised upon a commitment to-and competitive advantage derived from-developing mentorship opportunities.

As a community, Zeal lives off of a strong social dimension. At Zeal, consultants meet and help each other. Zeal's high-caliber membership allows for targeted pre-professional networking and mentoring.

What is your opportunity with Zeal?

The summer and fall intern will assume the overarching roles of manager, teacher, and marketer. As manager, you would oversee a broad network of consultants that directly work with Chinese high school students. As teacher, you would counsel Chinese high school students vis-à-vis studying abroad.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Collaborating with Chief Product Officer to design and implement consultant network management system and marketing campaigns

2. Coordinating with U.S. team to generate and manage interaction and connection between members admitted into the Zeal community

3. Training consultants for Zeal projects, matching consultants with clients, and undertaking quality assurance throughout projects execution

4. Mentoring Chinese students before, during, and after their college applications process through a number of capacity-building projects such as seminar discussion, essay coaching, and interview training

Who do we look for?

Current undergraduate and graduate students in top US institutions.

Have a passion to mentor and lead younger students eager to study abroad.

Have excellent communication skills, solid English writing ability, and fluent spoken Chinese.

Are generally responsible and manage time well.

Potential summer commitment of between 2 and 3 months.

Interest in developing a targeted professional network of outstanding peers.

What are the benefits?

Depending on the duration of your commitment, we could ensure that you are well taken care of here, meaning that you will eat well, travel well, and reside in one of the most beautiful cities in China on our tab. The ideal internship with us would last from the end of May to the end of July. This is the most intense marketing season in which your skills and your brand would be put to greatest use. Involvement for a shorter period of time is definitely possible, but to really understand the company and provide value I would suggest being around for at least two months.

In terms of the benefits for you, I think it is pretty cool that after the internship you would be able to say you can sell $5000 products in Chinese, to Chinese people. The combination of travel, half-day public speaking and break-out marketing events, and follow-up sales conversations with potential clients will truly take your Chinese to the next level. You would also get to see the middle of the consumer bell curve, instead of just highly informed and rational clients in major Chinese cities. You would begin to understand how selling someone in Hangzhou takes a nuanced and nonlinear "emotional vocabulary", whereas selling someone in Beijing takes traditional anticipatory logic. But beyond selling people products, the goal is to imbue students with an appreciation for and awareness of a liberal arts education. I am confident that such a goal will also be occasion for significant introspection and reflection upon what education means to you-not a bad way to spend a summer (or fall semester).

Simply put, people at Zeal help each other-in both small and profound ways. This of course has a lot to do with professional skills building and traditional advantages of niche social networks, but also with how dependable we are as a community.
