The Software Technician at National Instruments works in concert with R&D software engineers in all aspects of products releases.  This includes maintaining products build processes and troubleshooting build issues, fixing product defects, executing tests and evaluating test results, and providing hardware and software infrastructure services.

Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure and maximize the R&D product development efficiency and the product release quality.

Responsibilities:

-Set up and maintain products build processes, continually monitor products build results and perform initial debugging on build failures.

-Closely coordinate with project managers and software engineers to ensure that manual and automated testing are completed as per plan, including closure of agreed defects.

-Continually monitor and analyze test results and file bug reports for corrective action requests.

-Work in collaboration with Software Development Engineers on fixing products defects.

-Ensure R&D infrastructure software services are accessible and equipped with necessary hardware and software.

-Research and make recommendations on potential resources and services.

-Perform other related duties as required during working hours.

Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another Engineering-related major.

-Must be analytical, detail-oriented and highly organized.

-Familiar with operating systems, tools and able to read technical diagrams.

-Have positive and responsive attitude towards responsibilities.

-Good communication skills for interacting with software engineers.

-Understanding of programming concepts and strength in one or more programming languages are a plus.
