TEACHER ASSISTANT JOB SPECIFICATION

·         to offer support to pupils in classes as directed by the Head of school Section

·         to remain in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher

·         to take a class to and from specialist lessons and to remain with the class in the lesson to support the class teacher

·         to work alongside the class teacher to help to create an environment in which the pupils’ learning flourishes

·         to be responsible with the class teacher for the pastoral care of the children with whom they are dealing

·         to take part in the planning and preparation for learning both inside and outside the classroom as directed by the class teacher

·         to play a lead role in the celebrations

·         to facilitate the learning of individual children or small groups of children under the direction of, and in consultation with, the class teacher

·         to be involved in the assessment of children

·         to maintain discipline in line with school policy

·         to attend staff meetings as required for the School as a whole, with year group colleagues and for subject specific meetings as appropriate

·         to attend events when required by School

·         to take part in the INSET programme as directed by the Head of school

·         to undertake supervisory duties at Break/Lunchtime

·         to accompany children to school buses and ensure that they are safely on board at the end of each day
