The programme

The global graduate engineering program is a 4 x 6 months rotational program over 2 years where you will be rotated across different engineering teams within Interconnect to gather the skills and knowledge required to establish a strong career in the organisation. Typical placements could include 2D/3D drafting and design, electrical & mechanical design engineering, radio frequency design, digital software/firmware design, technology simulation & system analysis, material development, industrial engineering, project management, and business development.

As well as the program placements, there will be the opportunity to work on stretch projects to further develop your understanding of our business as well as developing the soft skills you will need to succeed as young professionals.  As part of a Smiths-wide global graduate network, you will get to meet our graduates from the different divisions and functions located worldwide to share learning experiences and create a network.  In addition, and with a strong business case, there will be the opportunity to undertake a placement abroad at a different site for the highest performing graduates.

Throughout the two years, Smiths Interconnect will support you in ensuring that you gain the skills you need to succeed and grow with us, and prepare you for a full-time role within our engineering organisation. As one of our first graduate intakes, you will also be in a unique position to help shape the programme for future cohorts.

Criteria for potential candidates

A minimum 2:1/ GPA 3.5 in an Engineering Master’s degree, or the equivalent in Chinese Universities. Good Grades.

(Preferably in Electrical or Mechanical engineering)

Graduated in the past two years.

Excellent science and maths academic background

Can communicate in both Chinese and English

Committed and able to work in a changing environment

Strong interest in engineering as a career with ambitions to continually learn

Self-sufficient and can work with minimum supervision - will hit the ground running

Innovative thinker who possesses problem solving attributes

Strong desire to work in a global business

Can work well both independently and with a team – good interpersonal skills are valued
