StepStone is currently seeking candidates with excellent quantitative, qualitative and interpersonal skills for Intern positions with StepStone’s Private Equity Fund Research team. The Intern’s primary role is to support sector focused research on various areas of the private equity industry such as growth, buyout, and venture capital. In addition, the Intern will work in a team environment with other Research team members to manage information flow; update our proprietary database; build supporting valuation models and charts; analyze Private Placement Memorandums, financial statements and investment returns. The Intern will have the opportunity to articulate findings to Research Team.

 

The ideal candidate will be in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree and some level of finance or other relevant experience. He/she will adhere to the highest ethical standards, as well as demonstrate maturity, reliability, and attentiveness to detail.

 

Essential Job Functions

•     Perform market research using publicly available information and proprietary databases to identify, quantify and analyze macroeconomic trends across a variety of industry sectors

•     Interpret financial analyses prepared by target fund managers, including investment track records and financial statement analysis; prepare valuation analyses for on private companies using multiples from comparable public companies and precedent transactions

•      Support Senior Research staff on managing and tracking the inflow of investment opportunities

•      Help construct an argument regarding a decision to invest or not invest, and communicate that argument efficiently in written materials

•      Use creativity to analyze data and to test hypotheses regarding attractiveness of specific sectors and investment opportunities

•      Form an independent opinion about the attractiveness of a sector or investment opportunity; clearly articulate findings

•      Analyze and monitor the performance of the firm's existing fund managers and underlying portfolio companies; opportunity to participate in meetings with assigned managers

 

Other Requirements include:

•       Pursuing BA/BS in Finance, Economics or Accounting, or equivalent relevant experience 

•       High proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

•       Demonstrated track record of academic success

•       Strong communication skills, proficient in English and Chinese, both written and spoken

•       Strong, demonstrable analytical capabilities, including strong quantitative/modeling skills

•       Team player and committed to work
