Job Description

Role: Freight Analyst Intern

Location: Shanghai

Period: 6 months

Project Guide/ Coach (on location): Arhur Magnien

The role
The Freight Research team contributes to the development of quantitative and fundamental analysis to support primarily our dry bulk freight trading desks, which are a central part of the Olam Grains business.

Responsibility

Data engineer/data analyst profile available asap for a 6-month assignment

Great opportunity for a junior profile to join a leading international commodities trading house

Support the freight trading team in building research using analytical tools and in-house software

You will support the team in day to day activities such as:

Collating, organizing, analyzing, cleansing, interpreting large and complex data sets and translating these into clear and actionable insights for decision makers.

Establishing, maintaining, and enhancing any required routine reporting for internal intelligence.

Developing market views, models and conceptual frameworks to further the desk’s understanding of short- and medium-term fundamental dynamics.

Presenting and delivering results to traders, analysts and other stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

Fluent in English as the team is working from multiple locations around the globe.

Master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, or Statistics.

Proven proficiency in Excel and VBA with the ability to learn other analytic tools.

Excellent programming skills with Python and the PyData stack (numpy, pandas, scipy, etc).

Experience in SQL, understanding of database technologies (experience in cloud computing preferably AWS a plus).

At least 1 first successful professional experience in Data Science, Computer Science, or Statistics field.

Proven analytic skills, including data mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization.

Ability to work on strict deadlines

Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Monthly Salary-  4K-6K
