ROLE
This new position, within the Corporate Marketing team, is looking for someone creative
and resourceful. It has to ensure THE COMPANY delivers their marketing communications
and presentation to the market place in a truly global way. The role carries responsibility for
the following six areas:
1. Planning & execution support for trade shows in the AsiaPacific region
2. Planning & execution support for in-region oil & gas company forums
3. Coordination of regional public relations & media relations
4. Support for regional business development activities
5. Support for localization and customization of collateral and other sales tools
6. Maintain regional website
Specific accountabilities are:
1. Regional tradeshow support. Liaise with the Corporate Marketing team to plan and execute tradeshows in the AsiaPacific region.
2. Oil & gas company forum support. Liaise with the Corporate Marketing team (and Global Sales & leaders in the AsiaPacific business units) to conceptualize, plan, and execute forums targeting oil & gas companies in the region. These events may include enhancing existing events (e.g., China Forum) or extending existing events to other areas.
3. Public & media relations. Develop and execute a strategy for enhancing THE COMPANY’s presence in the AsiaPacific region by interacting with the appropriate general media outlets and industry-specific vehicles to secure editorial contributions and place advertisements when appropriate.
4. Business development support. Support regional business development activities by, for example, identifying / documenting a list of key oil & gas company contacts / target customers, planning/executing targeted direct mail campaigns, and extending Corporate Marketing BizDev concepts to the region (e.g., oil & gas company Lunch & Learns).
5. Sales tools localization. Tailor sales tools to the local market (e.g., by ensuring translation of pitch decks, marketing collateral/brochures, key articles, press releases, etc.).
6. Regional website maintenance. Liaise with the Corporate Website Manager to support and maintain the Mandarin regional website. These tasks include frequent uploads to keep the content fresh, translating new web pages and content, continuing to develop the site to meet the customer needs.
PREFERRED SKILLS
The successful candidate will be a self-directed, high-energy graduate with tons of initiative
and 5+ years practical marketing experience in the Asia Pacific, preferably in the oil and gas industry, but could also be in the HiTech or other industries.
He/she will be able to work at arms-length (including in a virtual manner) with an extended group of geographically dispersed businesses and with a U.S. headquarters. With strong communications skills, both written and verbal, they will also be able to understand
technical subject matter and liaise with scientists, engineers and business unit management.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to think strategically
and improve projects beyond a general and tactical scope. He/ she will have a proven track record in at least (3) of the (6) primary accountabilities associated with the role
– with a willingness to learn the other elements. If selected, the candidate
will join the rest of the team in the US in December for an Offsite Strategic Planning Retreat.
