Sourcing Engineer – International 发信站: 饮水思源 (2006年12月04日16:28:08 星期一) Salaried Exempt Job Description 12万/year Job Title: Sourcing Engineer – International General: Identifies, develops, and monitors performance of raw material and pr oduct suppliers to the company factories, both domestic and international. Ga thers industry and competitive information on material cost indexes, labor rat es, transportation costs, and productivity rates to evaluate pricing and contr acting terms with suppliers. Evaluates quality systems compliance, conducts q uality audits, and monitors quality performance of current and potential suppl iers. Essential Functions : 1. Identifies potential suppliers through research in trade journals, public a nd private databases, industry organizations, and personal networks. 2. Conducts quality audits on potential suppliers, evaluating quality systems, procedures, work documentation, gage calibrations, and manufacturing practice s. Creates and distributes reports of findings, including ratings according t o company standard procedures. 3. Supports development of global commodity strategies, considering worldwide cost and performance indicators to minimize cost and maximize performance. 4. Negotiate supplier contracts that commit performance improvements in cost, delivery, quality, order lead time, payment cycles, technology, and/or risk mi tigation. 5. Support global reviews on supplier analysis and selection processes, make/b uy, outsourcing, and supplier transitions. Monitor supplier performance to co ntractual agreements, and enforce penalties/incentive clauses. Assists suppli ers in transportation or logistics problems to ensure a smooth flow of materia l to the receiving factory site. Takes action with early warning signals of i mpending material flow disruptions to the receiving factories or distribution centers. 6. Develop technology roadmaps that review historical data and forecast specif ic supplier capabilities. Communicate industry and technology trends or event s to the organization to mitigate impact to the company, and take evasive acti on where necessary. 7. Develop strong working relationships with other functional groups within th e company and external suppliers to facilitate accomplishment of strategic obj ectives. 8. Assist company staff in making travel arrangements, scheduling supplier vis its, and traveling with foreign groups to assist them in meeting their objecti ves. Act as guide and interpreter to ensure effective business transactions a re accomplished. Job Requirements / Qualifications : 1. Provide input to manufacturing, technology, and cost reviews. Take correct ive action on notice of supplier deficiencies or market disruptions. 2. Self-motivating style that pursues opportunities for improvement and greate r depth in understanding of complex business challenges. 3. Benchmark best-in class suppliers, competitors, and customers to understand critical success elements of global sourcing activities. 4. Support both conventional and reverse auction negotiations as required with domestic and international supply base. 5. Support Lean/Six Sigma projects and initiatives to improve internal perform ance and customer responsiveness. 6. Must demonstrate broad business acumen and understanding of manufacturing, engineering, finance, and supply chain operations. 7. Understand the importance of QCD, viewed as seeking complimentary improveme nts in Quality, Cost and Delivery performance in supplier selection and contra cting. 8. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the organization. 9. Ability and willingness to travel frequently to both domestic and internati onal supplier sites. 10. Fluent in local country language and English spoken and written communicat ions. Good communication skills in both business and technical discussions. Education : 1. Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, B usiness Administration or related field. Experience : 1. Minimum of 3 years experience in purchasing, engineering, supplier quality or supply management with a foreign firm, or a domestic firm that sells it’s products to foreign customers. 2. Familiarity with Procurement and Quality Supplier Metrics as required by fo reign firms. 3. Understanding of blueprints and technical specifications 4. Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Data Manage ment Software. 5. Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma principles and performance improvement tool s. 6.
