Position description:
In a large format printer, where millions and millions of drops are placed on a paper within a precision of microns to create an image, the mechanical engineer has to design a system that ensures that each of these drops are placed where, how and when they have to be. Therefore, the has to interact with different components and functions, like print heads, structure, ink, sensors, dynamic mechanical systems, servos, etc...
Mechanical Engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working on new products and solutions for printing and imaging. You, as an intern engineer, will work close to the Mechanical Architects participating in the design, implementation, testing, and validating of systems and components to deliver optimized image quality, throughput, and reliability for our large format printers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities will include some of the following:
His/Her general responsibilities will be the analysis, design, development and testing of mechanical components for Large Format Printers.
Concretely, he/she will have to implement, model and adjust of servos systems, define and perform subsystem life testing (accelerated life testing), finite elements analysis of mechanical elements, vibration analysis, etc.
He/She will be able to understand and learn the Image Quality (IQ) concept and its attributes, how they are perceived by the costumer, how a printing system works and how the mechanical system affects the IQ attributes.
Also, He/She will design and develop algorithms that improve IQ attributes, drop position errors and paper advance, etc.

Qualifications
2nd or last year of Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Candidate must have very high technical and analytical skills and has to be able to logically simplify a complicated problem set.
Have creative thinking and a hands-on working style.
Experience in design of experiments of complex systems, with multiple parameters to monitor and control.
Desirable experience in FEA, CAD design and statistical and simulation tools.
Be fluent in English
Have excellent teamwork and communication skills
