Reuters Research- Technical Team Lead- DBAOnshore Team: Alex Meikson- Operations Implementation and Support Team

JOB DESCRIPTION – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced developer works in Reuters Development Center in Beijing to lead and manage the technical direction for the team. The role will work with Develop team on developing, maintaining and supporting all reference data that is key to the users of Reuters’ products.
The successful candidate will be bright, articulate, highly motivated individual and have 3+ years experience in data modeling, database design, implementation and maintenance utilizing SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS – REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
•6-7 years experience in DBA
•Design, development and implementation of DBA group strategies and standards across all Reuters business units
•Understanding in building SQL Server infrastructure ("setting up shop") for large databases
•Understanding in capacity planning (number of boxes, amount of space, memory, rate of database growth, updates, etc.)
•Experience working & advising developers on best practices and application process design
•Installing and configuring SQL Server on the production boxes
•SQL Server patch management
•New hardware, SQL Server and SQL Server related products evaluation
•Migrating new database structures, such as tables, indexes, stored procedures, from the development to the production environment
•Day-to-day database upgrades according to the developers requests (new columns, SPs, tables, indexes, etc.)
•Migration to the new versions of SQL Server, OS and hardware
•Understanding in fault tolerance planning, design, testing and implementation:
-database backup and recovery procedures
-database disaster recovery procedures
-load balancing between two data centers
-SQL Server clustering

•Understanding in SQL Server replication
•SQL Server security management
•SQL Server monitoring
•SQL Server performance monitoring and tuning
•SQL Server troubleshooting
•24x7 SQL Server production DBA support
•Must be able to work both independently, and in a team environment of several DBAs
•Have good communication skill, ability to think clearly and act quickly in pressure situations, ability to multi-task and change focus quickly
•Bachelor’s degree required and an MS degree preferred.
