About the Team

The Development Tools team in China is a newly established group with the aim to create and deliver key components of the Symbian OS development environment. These tools are intended to be used by all developers within the Symbian eco-system, both internally and externally.

The team supports Symbian OS development by providing solutions in the areas of:
• Debugging - Run and stop mode
• Tracing and Profiling - Trace framework and host support, profiling and analysis
• Testing - Test execution and creation
• Eclipse-based IDE creation - Community contributions and internal tools support.

We are seeking the best people to join the team who can help us drive development forward and focus on improving the Symbian developer environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and the ability to develop their own skills.

Key Responsibilities
As a member of the test team within the group you will be required to:
• Develop test software and specifications
• Identify and support test environment
• Identify and execute tests and scripts
• Prepare Test Reports for code submissions
• Contribute to estimates and plans as required by Project Manager
• Provide regular status updates to Project Manager
• Work closely with the development team
• Raise and investigate defects and, where practical, suggest solutions
• Adhere to Symbian test processes and practices
• Work closely with the development team

Apply static and dynamic techniques to ensure that requirements are met

Essential
Qualifications
Educated to Degree level, or equivalent, in an Engineering related discipline, e.g. Computer Science or Electronics.

Experience
Had hands-on responsibility for software testing and test code development for product code working from requirements and functional documentation.

Skills
• Java skills
• Knowledge of Object-orientated design techniques and UML design
• Test design and Test automation
• Full understanding of test methodologies and processes
• Good written and verbal command of the English language

Ideally will be ISEB accredited or equivalent

Experience
• Familiarity with embedded environments such as Symbian OS / Linux / Windows Mobile
• Familiarity with Eclipse
• Familiarity with Mercury Test Director, QTP, WinRunner

Skills
C++, Perl, Python, Ruby scripting
