Senior software developer for thermodynamics and property model development

6.Position Justification:
These positions will allow us to:
a)Commercialize the results of the basic research project to model amines treatment processes for removal of CO2. It will allow us to extend beyond amines to include other types of solvents.
b)Follow up on recommendations on the basic research project on Alternative Fuels project to upgrade a number of existing bio-fuel simulation models for demonstration and marketing purposes
c)Develop property packages by leveraging data from the NIST database

7.Overview
We are looking for a chemical engineer with a strong thermodynamic property modeling background, plus working experience with process simulation and programming to work on the development, testing and maintenance of thermodynamic property data packages, models, and features of AspenTech’s industry-leading software applications for process modeling and simulation

8.Responsibilities
1) Developing, testing, and documenting thermodynamic and transport property packages, property models, databanks and capabilities for Aspen Properties; this will involve tasks such as
(1) Search and evaluation of literature data
(2) Evaluation, regression, and validation of thermodynamic and transport properties
(3) Evaluation, regression, and validation of reaction kinetics
(4) Simulation flowsheet development and validation
2) Testing, maintenance and enhancement of property models
3) Programming of property system enhancements.

9.Qualifications
1) BS/MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering or related major
2) Experience in thermodynamic/property modeling, with experience using Aspen Plus and Aspen Properties
3) Experience modeling the properties of non-ideal chemical systems (azeotropes, electrolytes, solids)
4) Experience modeling the properties of refining/oil&gas systems is a plus
5) Working knowledge of C++, VB, Excel, Fortran programming a plus
6) Fluent in English (written and spoken); business will be conducted entirely in English, including frequent communication with US staff.
