Job Summary
We are seeking a Business Development Manager for our Beijing, China office. The Business Development Manager has full responsibility for identifying, developing and engaging in business relationships in China for the purpose of generating new client business within the design, engineering, and construction industry. Full responsibility includes managing the business development cycle by establishing clientele in China, developing proposals and facilitating corporate business agreements. The Business Development Manager will work independently and with the sales and marketing team in the United States to identify leads and develop resources in support of the company’s goals and strategic direction.
Essential Functions
• Generates new accounts including scheduling meetings, presentations, cold calls, and closing sales in order to meet monthly sales goals
• Conducts market research and analysis
• Assists with proposals and business agreements
• Provides business development ideas
• Provides excellent customer service to new and existing clients
• Reviews monthly Booking Reports for accuracy
• Composes e-mails and other written documents for work solicitation
• Maintains history (client activities) in Deltek
• Generates business development updates to Senior Vice President of International Department in the United States
• Attends industry functions to network with new and existing clients and keeps abreast of industry news and information
• Travels to offices, client meetings, and industry events as needed
• Reads trade publications to stay abreast of industry and clients
Qualifications
Experience:
• 5+ years (minimum) of proven sales experience in design, engineering, or construction industry required (experience from the US preferred)
• Outstanding relationship building and management experience preferred
• Experience with strategic account selling principles preferred
• Proven prospecting and opportunity qualification capabilities
Education:
• Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing, Architecture, Engineering or Construction preferred
Licenses/Certificates:
• Professional registration in China preferred
Software:
• Microsoft Office Suite
Communication/Organization Skills:
• Strong oral/written communication skills required
• Proficiency in the English and Mandarin languages including usage, grammar and spelling required
• Ability to work in team environment and independently
• Ability to communicate with clients and colleagues required
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills a necessity
• Excellent presentation skills required
