Overall responsibility
To assist the IT Manager to ensure that the IT services for the office run at an optimal performance with minimal down time.
Key responsibilities
Network Administration
• Archiving
• Assist/learn from IT Manager with server troubleshooting, routine maintenance, patch updates.
Software Administrator/support
• Norton Anti-Virus – ensure that every desktop is covered by latest NAV patterns.
Be aware of any new viruses likely to infect our system eg news bulletins from the NAV web site.
• MS Exchange – assist & learn from IT Manager - admin and trouble shooting
• Office XP/ Win 2k/9x – trouble shooting, installing latest patches.
PC Support
• Troubleshooting & maintenance of PC’s & Laptops
• Upgrades and repairs
• Assembling new PC’s as required
• Maintain hubs/cabling
Printer Maintenance
• Liaise with maintenance contractors for black & white laser maintenance. Make sure they come in twice a year for preventative maintenance/cleaning
• Liaise with maintenance contractors for colour laser maintenance
Other
• Review new hardware/software, making recommendations to IT Manager.
Reporting
The IT Services Executive reports to the IT Manager.
Personal skills
The following skills are essential:
• Windows 2003 Professional - Good working knowledge & advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Windows 2003 Server, Exchange E-Mail - Good understanding & basic
troubleshooting skills.
• PC/laptops – good troubleshooting skills of hardware problems
• Good communication skills – can explain problems to users so that
they can understand/learn from problems.
• Skills in pages setting and graphic design (basic)
• Skills in multimedia applications
