BUSINESS GRADUATE PROGRAM

WHAT IS IT?

To help us create, develop, improve, market, sell and support our professional products for financial markets, Thomson Reuters is constantly searching for talented, ambitious and motivated individuals to join the Business Graduate Program.

The Program currently targets graduates from Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia, attracting graduates representing over 26 different nationalities. It is predominantly a general business program, but we also welcome candidates with a technology background. The Business Graduate Program provides managed, accelerated career development which gives participants breadth and depth of experience early in their careers.

OBJECTIVES OF THE BUSINESS GRADUATE PROGRAM

The Program aims to provide graduates with in-depth knowledge of Thomson Reuters clients, markets and the products that serve them. It will also provide experience and understanding of:

dealing with clients in a number of different roles

Internet and e-commerce business

international and cultural diversity

marketing, strategic planning and project management

HOW LONG?

The Business Graduate Program lasts approximately 2 1/2 3 three years. Typically, during the Program graduates spend time in three different functions and two to three different locations for periods ranging from 6 to 12 months. Approximately 18 months is spent in customer-facing roles.

EXAMPLES OF PLACEMENTS

First Assignment: Six months in a Thomson Reuters Service Center. This assignment provides a rapid entry point for learning about the clients, markets and products. During this period, graduates study both for internal markets and products certification programs and for professional qualifications such as ICMA, CFA and others covering the fixed income, securities and derivatives and foreign exchange markets.

Second Assignment: A front-line, client-facing role for 12 months, typically in sales or account management positions in various locations. These roles span the full spectrum of Thomson Reuters activities in the financial markets, from major clients requiring close partnerships to retail e-business models.

Third Assignment: The final stage, to complement the experience gained in the front-line, usually takes place in one of the central departments or divisions, in areas such as marketing, planning, product or project management although some graduates continue in direct client-facing roles. A placement in the Innovation Team is also possible as a fourth, optioned assignment.

TRAINING

Development is achieved by acquiring skills and taking responsibilities on the job, interspersed with formal development, covering both operational and behavioral skills. Graduates receive regular feedback during the Business Graduate Program and are expected to achieve high standards throughout.

AFTER THE BUSINESS GRADUATE PROGRAM

At the end of the Business Graduate Program, subject to individual aptitudes, graduates should have the skills and experience to pursue a number of career paths, including operational front-line positions in account management, global accounts, marketing, product management, strategic planning and project management roles. Roles are not predetermined and will vary from case to case in terms of responsibility, location, level and package.
