-Assignment Title: Assistant to Research Scientist (Intern)
-Major Required: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
-Location: Shanghai
-Business: GE Water
-Working Frequency: 3-4 days per week
-Assignment Duration: over 2 months
-Starting Date: Mar 15
Primary Responsibilities:
* Work closely with research scientists from multidisciplinary teams
* Run pilot testing of membrane mudules on a regular basis to assist scale up of newly developed reverse osmosis membrane
* Assist the maintenance, calibration, and upgrading of existing piloting unit
* Gather and analyze data and report key results
* Flexible among programs ranging from long-term and exploratory research to applied research & development to serve many GE Water business
Qualifications Required:
* PHD/MS in Mechanical Engineering; Chemical Engineering (water treatment process & device development etc.)
* Strong Ability to design, construct, modify, operate, and troubleshoot equipment
* Solid statistical, data analysis, and scientific method skills
* Creative, hands-on experimentalist
* Ability to use data and statistical analysis tools for planning DOEs in experimentation and for working-up results and making conclusions
* Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills to contribute as part of a cross-functional team
* Excellent problem solving skills, ability to consider overall problems, identify opportunities and implement major changes
* Self-starter, independent thinker, proactive problem solver
* Strong environmental, health and safety
* Fluent oral and written communication in English & Chinese
Desired Requirements:
* Familiarity with reverse osmosis element and machine design considerations
* Good understanding of Engineering Fluid Dynamics
* Demonstrated proficiency with common CAD packages such as AUTOCAD/Solidworks
