Summary
The global Corporate Strategy team leads the company-wide strategic planning efforts
across TE’s wide range of businesses. The team’s charter and activities are broad, but primarily focus on:
· Development of the holistic, long-term strategy for the company, in cooperation with the business units
· Leadership and critical thinking for business units (i.e. acting as the internal consulting organization) on strategic initiatives such as GTM optimization, market-entry strategy, product launch, supply chain optimization, cost reduction
· Identification, evaluation, and negotiation of corporate and business development opportunities (e.g. acquisitions, alliances)
The senior associate will join the current team whose members come from a variety of backgrounds representing some of the best global corporations, management consulting firms, investment banks and educational institutions. The senior associate will work closely with business unit leaders and functional experts to deliver immediate business impact.
The position will be based at our facilities in Shanghai, China.
Responsibilities
The senior associate, Corporate Strategy will be a key senior member of the department and actively lead projects for the team and BUs. Depending on the pipeline of projects, key responsibilities will include:
· Leading and driving joint teams comprised of strategy and BU team members
· Facilitating development of annual strategic plans working with the business unit and segment leaders
· Leading development of concrete inorganic and organic growth strategies on behalf of business units from market intelligence/opportunity analysis to business development approach and execution plans (including, initiative definition and resourcing)
· Providing direct help or guidance/counsel to business unit members in assessing business unit's cost structure and/or maximizing performance of existing lines of business
· Identifying, tracking, and communicating key trends across markets, industries, and competitors that affect business segments
· Conducting market scan, research and analysis for potential acquisitions, equity investments, joint-ventures, alliances, licensing relationships or divestiture opportunities
· Supporting the core-M&A team members on due-diligence activities for business/corporate development targets
Depending on the size of the project, the timeline and the involvement of business units, the person will need to deliver results in a number of team configurations – from being the leader of a project, to serving as a team member for projects led by others, to being a subject matter expert/consultant on matrixed teams.
Experience Profile/Characteristics
· Major in Business, Science or Engineering from a leading institution
· Experience in leading strategic projects and delivering results in cross-departmental teams
· Tech experience preferred, but not needed
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills; experience in making presentations and communicating ideas and plans to executives
· Highly motivated self-starter
· Willingness to travel to our business unit locations worldwide
· Foreign language skills a plus
