Part-time Intern, Beijing[/B]
The Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) is a global, non-profit team of experts focused on the long-term economic and environmental sustainability of the power and natural gas sectors, providing technical and policy assistance to policymakers and regulators on a broad range of energy and environmental issues. We also provide educational and technical assistance to other stakeholders, including consumer and environmental groups, utilities and business associations. RAP has worked in the US since 1992 and in China since 1999. We added programs and offices in the European Union in 2009 and plan to offer similar services in India in the near future.
We are seeking a responsible, energetic, and professional individual with a background in energy, environment or public policy for the position of part-time intern in Beijing.
RAP works closely with the Energy Foundation Beijing office's programs in China and the intern will also support the Energy Foundation's program needs.
[B]Responsibilities:[/B]
Support program staff with meeting arrangements. Liaise with international organizations, governmental officials, their staff, and policy experts.
Work with program staff to compile background reports, reference materials, and policy research.
Arrange for meetings and workshops, including invitation letters, travel arrangements, and meeting materials.
Translate written materials from English to Chinese (and occasionally vice versa). Provide oral interpretation during meetings and visits.
Conduct independent research and prepare research reports.
Help client/grantee organizations in China to develop reports.
Communicate with international experts, helping them to prepare presentation materials and papers.
Provide other general support as needed.
[B]Qualifications:[/B]
Undergraduate degree in the fields of energy, environmental sciences/management/policy, public policy, or related field. Experience in air pollution prevention and control policies is a plus.
Passion for working with non-profit organizations. Strong personal interest in energy or environmental issues.
Excellent writing skills in Chinese. Good writing and verbal skills in English. Ability to translate Chinese to English and vice versa.
Self-motivation.
Ability to work well under pressure - independently and as a team member.
Strong analytical skills.

[B]Working Time:[/B] 16-24 hours/week, 8-12 months
