Introduction to China Global Delivery Center:

To drive higher value for clients and address the growing demand for global delivery of IT services, IBM opened its Global Delivery Center (GDC) in China in 1999 in Shanghai. Over the past decade, it has become IBM's second largest Global Delivery Center worldwide.

China GDC provides a broad spectrum of services, including consulting, systems integration, application services, maintenance, testing, solution management, business transformation outsourcing services and IT infrastructure services. It also supports leading package solutions, such as SAP, Oracle, Siebel, mainframe and e-business applications to clients worldwide across the locations of Shanghai, Dalian, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Wuhan and on the client sites. All the Global Delivery Centers located around the world comply with IBM’s global practices, processes and methodologies.

In 2009, China GDC has successfully attained both ISO 20000 and ISO 27001 certifications. The ISO certification is another important milestone in the company's continuous quality improvement efforts following its accreditation of Capability Maturity Model® Integration Maturity Level 5 (CMMI 5) Version 1.2 by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) in 2008. With the latest and highest international standard institutionalized across China Global Delivery's sites, IBM continues its leadership in quality control in China's application services outsourcing market.

China GDC has 3 key business units:

China GDC GBS is designed to address critical client issues with business outcomes that benefit the entire enterprise, and help IBM clients innovate and grow through systems integration and development services and applying advanced technologies and solutions. Our practitioners provide services for leading-edge, web-based application development, enterprise integration, portal development, wireless and mobile technologies, and security and privacy. Within these services, our practitioners can grow their skills in a number of areas including the application of Emerging Technologies, IT Reviews, Project Management, Systems Design and Development, and Business Analysis. GBS leads the GDC services for SOA and the application of IBM software services.

Today, China GDC provides services to clients worldwide across the locations of Shanghai, Dalian, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Wuhan and on the client sites.

GDC Shanghai Site was established in 1999. It provides application services to clients worldwide, especially in Japan. It also focuses on the invoice phase of Accounts Payable process supporting 15 countries in 5 languages (English, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Indonesian).

GDC Shenzhen Site was established in 2002. As a strategic Integrated Technology Delivery (ITD) center, it provides technical support, call center and command center services to clients worldwide. The site won “China Best Outsourcing Support Center” in 2008 and became one of the first few companies in China certified for ISO 20000, an international standard for IT service management in 2007. The Shenzhen site also provides application services to Asian customers and sells IBM products and services through and telephone.

GDC Dalian Site was established in 2003. It provides application services to customers worldwide, especially those in Japan and South Korea. As the strategic site for IBM Global Process Services(GPS) business in Asia, it provides credit card processing services and business process outsourcing services in functions of CRM (customer relationship management), finance and accounting, human resources and procurement, for clients worldwide. Dalian site has been awarded the "Best Software & Services Outsourcing Company" for four times by local government to date.

GDC Chengdu Site was established in 2007. It provides development, operation and maintenance of application services to clients worldwide. It also runs as a regional operation center for IBM Global Procurement Center, which effectively supports the IBM's global integration of supply chain management and provides services in multiple languages such as Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean.

GDC Wuhan Site was established in 2010. It provides development, operation and maintenance of application services to clients worldwide with focues in banking, industrial, telecommunications and transportation industries.

The Application Developers we’re looking for at GBS are energetic people who not only excel in the technical aspects of application development and management, but who have a keen interest in the business side as well -- people who can help IBM build innovative IT solutions to help our clients transform their business to gain competitive advantage and grow.

Experience with the following technologies would be an asset: C, C , Java, J2EE, Struts, Spring, C#/.net/WPF, Websphere, HTML/XML/XSLT, SQL, Design Pattern, Agile Methodology.

Desired Education: Bachelor or Master degree of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.

Additional information:  This is an entry-level position for new graduates, requiring a minimum of a four-year degree. Only students who will graduate in 2012 will be considered for this role.
