Cambridge Associates was founded in the early 1970s to assist non-profit institutions with the investment of their endowment assets.  Today, we provide investment advice and research to over 1,015 clients, including colleges, universities and other endowed non-profit institutions, government-related entities and family groups.  The firm advises on over US$156 billion in assets across the full range of available investment strategies, including equities, bonds, hedge funds, private equity, and real estate. 

We have more than 1,100 employees in eight cities globally including four in the United States (Boston, Dallas, Menlo Park, and Arlington, VA), as well as Beijing, London, Singapore and Sydney.  Our Singapore office was established in 2001, and today, we have a team of more than 50 conducting proprietary capital markets and investment manager research and providing investment advice to our clients.

The Private Growth Research Team evaluates fund managers and keeps abreast of the investment environment across private equity, venture capital, credit, secondaries and fund of PE/VC funds. Our research and evaluation directly impacts client portfolios and returns.  
 

The current opening is for an additional associate to join the team in Singapore, and his / her role is further explained below.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

Work with investment directors to complete in-depth due diligence on investment opportunities in VC and PE funds. Responsibilities include: attendance of manager meetings in Singapore or in the Asia-Pac region, reference calls with portfolio company CEOs and senior level professionals, review of fund legal terms and fund management capabilities, quantitative analysis of fund returns and other tasks that will help in evaluating fund managers.

• Write reports, of various formats, to help clients and colleagues in their investment decisions. This includes concise commentaries summarizing meetings with fund managers, in depth due diligence reports, and other periodic research such as research papers exploring current topics of interest in the Asian private equity, venture capital, and credit markets.
• Serve as a resource to colleagues seeking current information on investment opportunities, including data and analysis, comparisons across fund managers, and the opinion of the research team. 
• Work on special projects that enhance Cambridge Associates’ knowledge of the ever-changing landscape of investment managers and strategies.
• Prepare exhibits for periodic Research meetings.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree (any major) with a record of achievement. An interest in investments and familiarity with equity and fixed income investments
• Demonstrated command of written communication and strong English business writing skills. Business Level Mandarin
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/requests while ensuring integrity, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team under tight deadlines
• Strong Excel skills preferred. Knowledge of Bloomberg and Factset will be a plus
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally
