Ecosystem Engineering R&D Beijing Team
The Ecosystem Engineering R&D Beijing Team is part of VMware global R&D organization and is responsible for VMware core product R&D for hardware partners and focusing on hardware technology enablement in the storage, networking and server domains. The team owns the R&D work for major storage and networking drivers for vSphere ESX (VMware flagship product). We are seeking IO technology development engineers with hands-on software skills developing vSphere storage drivers, I/O stacks and protocols, I/O management software, and systems software. As a senior engineer you will have direct exposure to core VMware technology and products, work closely with a strong engineering team, and collaborate and consult with VMware storage partners to jointly develop solutions that enable VMware and its partner ecosystem to effectively address challenges and tap into opportunities presented in a Software-Defined Data-Center (SDDC) environment.
Job Responsibilities
-Build test frameworks capable of running hundreds of tests across thousands of hosts
-Work with a talented and energetic engineering team, and innovate on I/O infrastructure and driver models for VMware next generation virtualization and cloud products
-Develop leading-edge and high-performance I/O system, solution software and plug-ins for the next wave of cloud and performance-sensitive applications
-Collaborate with I/O solution partners, and provide development consultation and guide the design/changes required to enable their latest I/O technology in VMware products
-Work with multiple groups/engineers across sites toward accomplishing the work as one team
-Collect and generalize valuable engineering requirements from I/O solution partners and influence the design decision and implementation of next-gen VMware products
-Provide high quality documentation of storage solution APIs and devkits to partners for efficient self-enablement
Skill Requirements
-2015 graduate holding bachelor, master or PhD degree in computer science related majors
-3+ years'experience as a developer, 1+ year experience developing testing frameworks preferred
-Experience writing software in an object-oriented language (such as Java, C#, or C++)
-Understanding of web services technologies such as HTTP and REST APIs
-Familiar with a Unix/Linux development environment
-Experience testing software is a plus, but not required
-Experience testing distributed systems or large scale services is big plus ?
-Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and asynchronous architectures is a big plus ?
-Strong understanding of system and application performance characteristics
-Experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems
-Excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
