Future Leaders Program Associate - Marketing and Sales in Consumer Healthcare

What's this area all about?

GSK Consumer Healthcare operates inside a fast-moving and demanding industry, within which we have leading positions in four main categories: oral health, nutrition, wellness and skin health. In these areas we have some world-leading brands including classic household names such as Sensodyne, Panadol and Horlicks. Our commercial teams are responsible for understanding our patients and consumers. They then develop and implement strategies so more people can do more, feel better and live longer.

What will the programme be like?

Our Consumer Healthcare Marketing and Sales programme will stimulate your early career development through broad-ranging experiences in a variety of business functions. It's our aim to turn you into a future leader in our business. Your development will come through challenging job rotations in roles such as sales, marketing and supply chain. You'll be supported by formal learning and coaching.

What will I learn?

You will build your commercial capabilities through your experience across the key areas of our commercial business, including marketing, sales and customer management. From the start, our challenging rotations will help you deliver the standards of commercial excellence we'd expect from a future leader.

Where can I work?

Shanghai or Beijing.

What's expected of me?

In addition, you'll analyse information and report your findings, so we can identify and understand trends, insights and facts. What do I need to succeed?

Business and Technology Consulting- IT Future Leaders Program

What's this area all about?

The aim of the Business and Technology Consultant role within the Future Leaders Program is to provide a framework of opportunities and experiences for high-caliber graduates so that they can make quality and timely contributions to GSK IT.

Over the course of three years, graduates will be assigned to different functional areas within IT. They will complete a year in the GSK Shanghai office and then complete the remaining 2 years in London, based at one of the GSK facilities. During this time, they will immerse themselves into various roles and learn the business processes and the strategies behind delivering key solutions to support business operations in the China and global market. The associate will work within the day-to-day service, deployment and business partnering streams taking on such roles as project management, business analysis, and technical development and support.

Specifically, graduates will work within the Global Pharmaceutical or Consumer Healthcare IT organizations at GSK. They will also be presented with the opportunity to conduct a breadth rotation outside of IT organization to gain a better understanding of business operations. The rotational schemes allow the graduate the opportunity to gain an understanding of the similarities and differences within the business areas and hone leadership skills such as influencing, relationship building and knowledge expertise.

Following completion of the program, the associate will exit into a full-time role in an IT department based on the needs of the organization and past performance of the associate.

Sample of Activities during Job Assignments (Rotations):

  • Performing business analysis during design, development and implementation of projects
  • Designing, developing and supporting software solutions
  • Managing project and software quality, including testing and validation
  • Ensuring that all user acceptance testing is appropriately defined and executed
  • Managing schedules, milestones, and resource requirements to meet project objectives
  • Preparing technical documentation
  • Interfacing with customers and other stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Identifying opportunities to improve business processes and performance, and advising the business of possible technical solutions
  • Identifying and building appropriate sources of information and cultivating effective business relationships

Basic qualifications:

  • BS or higher-level degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or other related major
  • Less than 2 years of work experience upon graduation of a bachelors or masters degree
  • 3.0 GPA or above

Preferred qualifications:

  • IT-related work experience
  • Masters degree in IT related disciplines

GMS Trainee Program

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Work in a function (Production/Quality) as start to build
  • Experience with GSK and the team
  • Functional hands-on experience
  • Basic understanding of processes/systems/equipments
  • Basic understanding of GMP/QMS/EHS etc.
  • Opportunity to be involved in project work to build cross team experience and project management experience

Pharma Future Leaders Program

What's China Pharma Future Leaders Program all about?

GSK a science-led global healthcare company that researches and develops a broad range of innovative products in three primary areas of Pharmaceuticals, Vaccines and Consumer Healthcare. Our Pharmaceuticals business develops and makes medicines to treat a broad range of acute and chronic diseases.

We have a significant global presence with commercial operations in more than 150 countries, a network of 86 manufacturing sites in 36 countries and large R&D centres in the UK, USA, Spain, Belgium and China.

This 2 1/2 year FLP programme aims to develop young talents who believe in GSK's values, hold strong passion and longing for a great career development in Pharmaceutical industry. They will have opportunity to work in variety of functions to learn, to develop and contribute with broader view on China Pharma business. It's also an opportunity to launch a leading career with an organisation dedicated to helping people do more, feel better and live longer.

Do I have the skills?

You'll need to be both creative and commercially savvy, with the potential and enthusiasm to become an inspirational commercial leader. You will need to have a high level of emotional intelligence and to be able to engage well with broad range of people. As a talent working in a large multi-national company, you are also required to hold excellent English capability so as to be able to effectively working in an international environment.

What will the programme be like?

To develop young talents into the leadership pipeline to meet overall organization capability requirements, this FLP designed to have two separate development path. One is Commercial Generalist, and the other is Commercial Specialist.

Commercial Generalist

  • Series of 3 rotations across the Commercial business including Field Force Sales/Marketing and other commercial related functions such as Commercial Excellence;
  • 1 rotation might be outside the Commercial business in Corporate Support Functions such as HR, IT, Comms, and Procurement;
  • Ideal time length per rotation is 9 months (however can be flexed longer or shorter based on project deliverables)

We are looking for the following:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in any discipline while science and engineering related would be preferred.
  • Good command of English language skill both in verbal and written is must
  • Strong skills in communication and influencing
  • Be proactive and a team work player
  • Comply with GSK value

Commercial Specialist

  • Aim to develop talents for Regulatory Affairs and Medical Affairs.
  • Series of 3 rotations across more technical related functions. For example, Regulatory Affairs Associates could rotate Regulatory roles, Supply Chain - Quality roles and Medical Affairs Roles; Medical Affairs Associates could rotate Medial Affairs Roles, Marketing Roles and R&D Roles.
  • Ideal time length per rotation is 9 months (however can be flexed longer or shorter based on project deliverables)

We are looking for the following:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in science related discipline like medical, pharma, chemistry, life science, biological etc.
  • Good command of English language skill both in verbal and written is must

Overseas Rotations

Once 2.5 year China rotation program being completed, the most outstanding Associates who are able to pass the Assessment will have opportunity to go for overseas rotations to further broaden their enterprise view.

Where will I be based?

For people who are pursuing Commercial Generalist development path, within the field sales rotation you will be given a specific territory to cover mainly in 1st tier cities. The following rotations are primarily based at in Shanghai, where GSK China Headquarter is;

For people who are pursuing Commercial Specialist development path, they will be primarily based at Shanghai or Beijing.

Where can I go?

Associates will be hired into a variety of roles after the programme, based on their performance, potential, career aspiration and business needs. These can be from sales-oriented field roles, to other commercial oriented roles such as Commercial Excellence, Government Affairs, or into support function roles (HR, Finance, Procurement, etc), or working in Regulatory and Medical Affairs.

What will I learn?

We'll do all we can to help you develop yourself - and enable you to develop others. Most of your training will be on the job, but you'll also learn from developmental relationships, coaching and formal training. Through this mix, you'll develop your business knowledge and world-class leadership skills. While on the programme, you'll be able to rely on the advice and support of a dedicated "buddy" (a current graduate), a mentor (a senior member of your team), the scheme sponsors group, and your programme and line managers.
