About GOSC Business Unit

Cargill Grains & Oilseeds Supply Chain (GOSC) business unit is one of the major suppliers and processors of grains and oilseeds in China, providing quality grains, oilseeds and fats products from worldwide origins. Cargill currently operates 4 oilseeds crush plants in China, three in Guangdong Province and one in Jiangsu Province. 1 new plant in Hebei Province is under construction. 

We source, process, transport and distribute grain and oilseeds around the world, handle main bulk products like oilseeds, including soybeans and canola seeds, corn, soybean meal, vegetable oils, as well as NGFI products. We operate wholly owned ports in China.

 

 

Trading Trainee

Location/Vacancies  Shanghai/1

Responsibilities:

· SND Management-25%

- Gather, analyze and input key information concerning the different agricultural products into the local Chinese S&D (supply and demand balance sheet);

- Manage and keep the local S&D up to date. Discuss locally and with the different trading desks in Geneva;

- Make weekly S&D changes report;

- Connect with the different merchants on feed demand, and analyze and report the impacts in the market.

· Price Collection Nationwide-15%

- Monitor the different agricultural products’ prices in key locations, including Northeast origination areas, Dalian, Shandong, YRB, Fujian and Guangdong;

- Maintain & analyze daily cash prices and correlate them with DCE futures prices and world prices;

- Report price changes in the various regions, more specifically on how price changes affect import and export economics.

· Positions and Trading-35%

- Assist the Trading Manager on covering different areas of risk management for the GOSC  including but not limited to: 

Hedging cash purchases;

Trading futures in DCE and CBOT;

Arbitrating between cash and futures, including delivery on the exchange;

Report Open Interest/Trade Volume/carry structures and explore trading opportunities;

Keep trading position spread sheet updated (Long & Short);

Give the necessary guidance and learn from the different locations (offices or plants);

Keep WTU and Minneapolis fully informed on major developments in the DCE, cash markets and general environment in China;

Write daily recaps on the different commodities traded;

Write weekly recaps for the Chinese Risk Meeting on the different commodities traded.

· Import/Export business-25%

- Daily communication with WTU and customers regarding market developments;

- Conduct agency business for WTU for the different agricultural products;

- Work together with trade execution/accounting/treasury/TSF functions to manage market and customer risk. Keep WTU on the loop.

About SSC Business Unit

Cargill Starch & Sweeteners China (SSC) offers a rich product portfolio to serve customers in the beverage, dairy, ice-cream, coffee creamer, beer, and confectionary industries as well as cardboard and paper industry. We have 3 plants in China to provide IsoClear? HFCS and/or other liquid products such as glucose 42 and dextrose syrup 95. They are Cargill Food (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., Cargill Food Technology (Pinghu) Co., Ltd and GBT-Cargill High Fructose (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. 55% HFCS operations are located in Tianjin and Pinghu, Zhejiang province. GBT-Cargill High Fructose (Shanghai) Co., Ltd is a JV between Cargill and Global Bio-Chem Technologies to produce 42% high fructose corn syrup. OtherCerestar China Resoures Maize Industry Co., Ltd is a corn processing JV, located in Songyuan, Jilin province. It produces cornstarch, waxy cornstarch, dextrose and, malto-dextrin. and modified starch Our native tapioca starch facility is located in Thailand.

 

Risk Management Analyst

Location/Vacancies  Shanghai/1

Responsibilities:

· Conduct the supply and demand analysis to provide a solid view and forecast for China’s corn and corn deep processing industry, maintain an in-depth understanding of macro-economic aspects impacting SSC business and effectively communicate on those key macroeconomic, policy and political changes

· Develop contacts both within Cargill and externally, enhance and improve BU’s analytical capacity and market intelligence, taking views from external sources to supplement in-house bottom-up analysis on demand sectors         

· Assist risk management team in managing raw material (corn & starch) sourcing strategies for various location plants, and risk hedging plans; 

· Provide suggestions to sales team for end products pricing and sales strategies; Assist sales in providing value-added services to strategic key accounts

· Monitor Futures changes (DCE & CBOT corn & ZCE Sugar etc.) as a key indicator for market trend, and explore opportunities to use Futures as an effective hedging tool for the BU 

· Work closely with different functional teams within the BU, namely sales, supply chain, Finance, operations and other business/product managers to ensure BU commodity position management    

· Preparation of BU commodity position presentations and reports

· Assists in coordinating controls for standard reported financial information and accounting/operational processes from risk management perspective

· Work with market intelligence team to build and maintain long-term China corn processing SnD database

Commercial Management Trainee

Responsibilities:

· Assist to drive customer solutions to develop CMSC as a customer of choice and develop a long term strategy centered on creating sustainable trading business model.
