Shantou University invites applications for positions as Lecturer, Associate or Full Professor.

Shantou University, founded in 1981 with the approval of the State Council, is a key comprehensive university under the "211 Project" in the Guangdong province. It is a university co-developed by the Ministry of Education, People’s Government of the Guangdong Province, and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. It is also the only public university in the world which is continually supported by a private foundation—the Li Ka Shing Foundation. It is located in the northwestern area of Shantou, a seaside city, with its campus covering a total area of 1.28 sq.km. and a total floor space comprising 448,400 sq.m.

Shantou University, located in Shantou, Guangdong Province, is the only comprehensive university in the eastern region of the Guangdong Province with a population of over 20 million people. Shantou University currently has over 1,500 staff and over 9,000 students working towards Bachelor, Masters and PhD degrees in the Colleges and Schools of Arts and Design, Business, Engineering, Journalisms and Communications, Law, Liberal Arts, Medicine, and Science.

Multiple faculty positions are available in the following areas:

College of Liberal Arts: English language and Literature (Literature in English, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics in English, Academic and Creative Writing in English, English-Chinese and Chinese-English Translation Studies). Global Studies (History and Culture of Middle East, Digital Humanities)

College of Sciences: Mathematics, optics and optical engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Marine Biology.

College of Engineering: Construction management, Environmental engineering, especially advanced water/wastewater engineering, environmental biotechnology, or air pollution engineering, Road and bridge/Geotechnical engineering, Mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, Electronic information engineering, Communication engineering, Electronic design and image processing, Software engineering, Computer Systems Architecture.

Business School: Accounting, Finance, Microeconomics, International Economics & Trade, Supply Chain, Operational Research, Information System, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Marketing

Law School: Civil and Commercial Law, Public Administration, Human Resource Management E-government, Public Economics.

Cheung Kong School of Art and Design: Design, Digital Media Design, Industrial Design, Theory of Fine Arts, Theory of Arts & Design.

Cheung Kong School of Journalism and Communication: Broadcasting, Journalism and Advertising.

Center for Faculty Development and Education Audit: Researchers and trainers in epistemic psychology, Learning Science and Pedagogies; Researchers and practitioners in evaluation models, evaluation techniques and educational assessments.

Salary and Benefits:

For international candidates, the University provides one annual round-trip ticket from the candidate’s residency to Shantou, paid vacations, medical benefits, and Chinese holidays.

Remarks：

1. Exceptionally excellent faculty can also apply for the “STU Outstanding Talents Funding Project”, which offers a university-level funding of ¥ 80,000 – 300,000 per year

2. For the newly recruited faculty who are with doctoral degrees as well as senior and vice-senior professional titles, if their spouses have no jobs, the University will offer each a subsidy of RMB 2,000 per month.

3. A variety of on-campus housing is available for renting. The current house price of Shantou is ¥ 5,000-12,000 / sq.m.
