The Role:

Tesla Motors is seeking a technical writer in Asia Pacific market. This role is primarily for creation of Toolbox articles that are used by Service, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to ensure the materials used to diagnose our products consistently meet the requirement. This Technical Writer will draft specifications based on technical guidance provided by Engineers on the team, coordinate the content review process with stakeholders, prepare final drafts and oversee the formal document release process.

The role should have excellent technical writing skills and ability to communicate with Engineers in multiple disciplines. Time management and activity prioritization are also important. 

 

Objectives for Technical Writing:

• Identify new features required to simplify and streamline the process.

• Establish reporting key reporting metrics to evaluate rate of content generation and rate of content moderation.

• Communicate localized content to region through website splash page once available.

   

  Responsibilities:

  ·        Determine what new technical documents, or revisions, are needed from Engineers.

  ·        Interview Engineers to understand the required format and technical content of documents.

  ·        Prepare draft technical documents for reviews by Engineers and Management.

  ·        Coordinate document reviews with stakeholder organizations, collect feedback, review with Engineers and modify documents accordingly.

  ·        Prepare final document drafts and oversee formal release process.

  ·        Availability for occasional off-hours calls and work

 

Skills:

·        Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with her/ his team and peers within the service and engineering organizations.

·        Strong ability to be self-directed and work independently, with strong organization and documentation skills.

·        Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous activities and challenges.

·        Skilled with common workplace and database software (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc).

·        Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, experience with CAD systems such as CATIA a plus.

 

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor degree or higher in technical writing or technical communication.

·        Minimum 3 years of technical writing experiences, preferably related to automobile diagnosis.

·        Excellent communication skill in English (additional foreign languages a plus).

·        Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
